  12. Hit the lake at 7:00 a.m. today. It was 27 degrees and calm. Our main goal of the day was to try and catch some shad with a cast net, and see if we could catch a few bass. With three throws of the net, we had probably 50- 3-5" shad and it was time to start fishing. I was throwing a shad rap too, and my line was freezing on the spool and on the rod guides. 2nd cast with the shad rap pulled in a nice 4 lb'er, and from then on it was time to catch fish!!! We ended up boating 28 fish. 26 bass and two crappie! We also missed at least 10 others due to broken line or them coming unbuttoned. Ryan met up with us around 12:00 and he boated many fish too, including the biggest bass, around 8 lbs! We had 5 fish over 7 lbs, 10 over 5 pounds, and a 2 lb crappie. Here are the pics! Enjoy
  13. I can custom make stickers. Let me know what you have in mind and I'll give you a price.
  14. On a positive note, it looks like my boat will ready to go for Lake Fork, see you guys there
  15. Also, here are the prices of ECU's. Just so you can decide for yourselves if it is worth taking the chance... Mercury 200 EFI New from Merc $1799.00 New aftermarket (Tony Bercata Racing) $950.00 Used $350.00- $500.00 I found a used one for $380 shipping included, a pretty good price, but I could have used this money for something else
  16. After researching this problem, I found that loose battery connections can fry the computer too. If you are running down the lake in rough water and the battery moves causing the loose connectors to wiggle on the post. The small spark can fry the computer, and I was told by a outboard builder that he had seen it happen 4 or 5 times...
  17. I've been fishing in the cold rain a bit lately and I have been wearing Red Head Bone Dry 1200 gram thinsulate rubber boots. They are actually my hunting boots, but my feet stay warm and dry in these. They are only $79 at BPS.
  18. I second that!!!!!! I assume it's some type of filter??? I agree. Let us know the secret! I need this on my lake too!!!
  19. If you have a fuel injected outboard, DO NOT dissconnect the motor battery wires while it is running. It can fry the computer and other electrical parts. I was told that even on a carbed outboard it can still fry elect. parts... I just learned this the hard way. It is not a very cheap mistake either >
  20. Also, I think I fried my computer on my motor trying to get it started off of the trolling motor battery. This dumb@$$ move might cause us to miss the Lake Fork trip. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon :'(
  21. this one had some nasty cuts on it's back...

  23. Went out today for a few hours. Got quite a few hits, but the fish seemed to be swatting at the bait so I missed most of them. Did manage to boat a few solid fish though...
  24. We had 17 crappie minnows in the water at a time. It is a crappie technique called spider rigging which translates into retying knots all day ;D Usually multiple lines get hung at the same time...
  25. On top of their salary, they also get all tournament fees paid, free gas, truck, boat electronics, tackle, clothes, etc, etc, etc. Don't forget that they have numerous sponsors, and are getting paid by more than one company. Also, on top of all that pay, they get all of their winnings too... Also, any profits for making appearances, their personal brands of tackle, fishing shows, etc. Keep in mind also that only the cream of the crop are making this kind of money. Most of the other pros are just making enough money to keep fishing. While the least paid sports athelete is breaking the bank... I agree that it is not nearly the pay of other prime sports, but they aren't hurting either... My friend is an FLW pro, and even the he doesn't always make the cut, he still makes enough money to support his family and have a nice lifestyle. He also just finished 10th on Okeechobee which helps a bit too...
