I have both and it's a toss up. It's as though Loomis made this rod to go head to head specifically with the Avid. Forced with a gun to my head, I'd go Avid. But that's for the simple reason that I've had one longer and I could easily flip flop in a year!
I think that the new Avid X has the micro guides? I want that 6'6" MF.

I have an Avid 6'8" MXF with a Chronarch 50E that is pretty dang sweet. The Rage doesn't do anything for me, but I'm sure it's a fine stick.
I have a 200B and a 100B. Both are fine reels and I really like the compactness of the 100 over the 200...so much so that I will soon be on the lookout for a Calcutta 50B! The 100 size is perfect for most bass applications. The 50 is not being made currently, but they pop up on here and there.
ST Croix Premier Spinning 6'6" Medium-Light Fast Action. Lure weight 1/8 oz to 1/2 oz, line weight rating 4-10lbs. Should pair well with a 2500. Model number PS66MLF. For around $125, it's a no frills workhorse of a rod. What some may call a meat rod.
Is this line G Loomis' older series? It includes the Mossyback series, correct? I'm having trouble finding reviews on it. I have a new SBR752 headed my way to pair up with a Calcutta 100B. Any experiences regarding the fiber blend rods or this particular spinnerbait rod would be helpful, thanks.
I'm glad that they are working fine for most. Mine wasn't as good as I had hoped, but may have worked out with some tinkering. I wanted to take advantage of the return policy as fast as I could while Gander had the 200E on sale for $160.
Agreed! I've never carried one, but I don't pocket coins that I find on tails either...I just turn them over to heads and leave them where I find them.
I'm sure that I am. But there are so many other goodies out there that don't have a 13 on them. Does the butt of the rod have a penny on tails showing glued in? Does it come with a rabbits foot or a horse shoe to compensate all those missed lunkers? Just wondering out loud....
I have no experience with the Alabama rig, but it looks like a job for a 7 ft Heavy rod. I will keep an eye on this thread for more experienced posters!
From one heron to another:
A 6'6" MH is a very versatile rod. It will do most things well. It's ideal applications are Texas rigged worms, jigs, and spinnerbaits. I'd throw buzz baits, larger shakey heads, and wacky jig senkos in there too.
They should have stuck with the Curado G for a few more years. The braking system on the I is just weird. It's a hastle to tune/cast...but at least it looks cool. I took mine back after a four day test run and then ordered a Chronarch 200E6 on sale for $160 at Gander Mt.
