  1. I was on sciver . I fished lower and middle. This weekend is going to warm up so I'm hoping things change
  2. I was out yesterday afternoon . I didn't see many fish . Only a few small bass in the shallows but nothing of any size they all look like small males. It was a bit windy and the water was super clear . It's been a rough spring with some wild temperature changes and I think the fish are little bit confused . The water temperature was almost in the mid 60s I was getting readings between 63 and 64 but wasn't getting bit
  3. The two biggest fish I've caught on artificial lures have been on a spinner bait . The biggest fish I've ever caught was on a gigantic live shiner in Lake Okeechobee. As far as numbers of large fish goes I've caught them mostly on jigs with trailers. A big jig with a big trailer catches big fish .
  4. I feel a trailer hook is indispensable . you get so many short strikes with a spinner bait. if you don't use a trailer hook you're really missing out on some fish. You'll have fish take a swipe at your bait that you never knew were there without a trailer hook. Ask KVD, he never uses a spinner bait without a trailer hook. As far as the trailer goes for a spinner bait I've been pondering that myself I use trailers all the time almost exclusively with jigs but I have never tried it with a spinner bait yet
  5. I never understood how a rabbits foot could be lucky wasn't lucky for the rabbit . Somewhere there's a rabbit in a wheelchair that would beg to differ with you my friend
  6. You're missing out . They have excellent rods and reels
  7. I have 9 G Loomis rods one of them being a GLX which I love . I'm looking to add an nrx to the stable but for the price of the NRX I can get two E6X rods, almost 3 actually. 200 bucks apiece versus 550 for the NRX. I suffer from severe gas that is gear acquisition syndrome. Just as a sidenote I'd like to mention *** rods I have two and they are awesome for the price point I would check them out as an option
  8. Having a high-speed reel shouldn't really make a difference you need to wait a second before setting the hook anyway . Setting the hook too quickly may be why you're missing fish in the first place . I think that the top reasons why people miss a frog strike is either setting the hook to quickly or the fish just flat out missing the frog. The other thing to look at are the hooks on the frog itself bending them up slightly should help the hook up ratio . The other thing to look at is the body of the frog itself you really want a soft body so it collapses easily the two brands that i like the best or the booyah Pad crasher and the river to sea spittin wah both are excellent frogs I highly recommend them.
  9. In my experience presentation has as much to do with the strike as the bait itself . I've thrown a Texas rigged worm into a bed multiple times with no strike I then took the weight off and let it sink slowly into the bed and it got slammed .
  10. I believe that the top water strike is a reaction strike not a pondered strike on what the Lure looks like having said that the bottom half color catches fish and the top half color catches fisherman like most have said you choose either a dark or light color for the bottom half depending on the conditions pretty much white or black take your choice. I'll say this, when the top water bite is on you could throw a turd out there was a treble hook hanging off it and you will catch fish
  11. Sounds like snake oil to me I don't believe it for a second
  12. Nothing fancy here. I just use Stren original and have never had a problem . I use the low visibility green. works for me
  13. To calm on Saturday and too windy on Sunday. Had a tough time Saturday. Bluebird skies no wind and very clear water do not make for optimum conditions. Sunday wasn't much better was about 20° cooler and very windy. On Saturday I was able to see a lot of males cruising the shallows but I didn't see any nests and didn't see any females. I don't think they're ready to spawn yet. Looks like the males were just cruising around looking for a good spawning sites. They had no interest in taking any lures and were easily spooked. There were some fish being caught here and there but nobody did really well from the people I talk to.
