  1. Hoosier, I have an Engels and a K2, The love the Engel, but the latches are a pain in the butt, The K2 is about the same, but the latches are the same type as the Yeti, much easier and more durable.
  2. I go to deer camp to work in the summer and spend a couple of days there. It's hot, I bought an Engels 55 Qt and Artic Ice packs. Now my food is not floating in water, and the beer and drinks stay cold, not cool, but COLD, for the entire time in the heat. CONS: It is heavy as hell. If I'm going for just the day or tailgating I use my Coleman Extreme, lighter and much cheaper, and the Ice last a long time, not as good as the Engels, but great for the day trip.
  3. I saw a film on Tilapia farming in Asia not long, which is where most of our Tilapia come from. The ponds were so full of Fish they were living on top of the water gulping air. They tested the water and it was a VERY high percentage of feces. I have never ordered Tilapia or any other Asian farm raised fish since. It's been my experience the taste of LM is highly dependent on the type of water they are raised in. I have eaten LM out of the Catawba river in NC that were almost unedible, and I've eaten them out of clean private lakes with no agriculture around them that were great.
  4. I catch and keep LM all the time. I only keep the fish that are 14-15" and only after the spawning period. I throw back all of the larger fish to reproduce, but I love LM, It all depends on the type of water your fishing as to how it will taste. And to the guy that says he wont eat them because he saw one spit up a crawfish,,, grow up. They eat snakes, worms, bugs, shad, mice, what ever is in the water. That's fish, they are opportunistic feeders. Find a good clean lake and the bass will taste as fine as any fish. Don't be snobbish to people that catch and eat fish, that's how this sport started. As long as people don't over harvest, and abuse the privilege, or break any laws, I'm good with it.
  5. I use Seagar Invisx 15# on most and #8 Lb on my Finesse spinning rods. The only time i use braid is on my Carolina Rig, and the only time I use Mono is on my Topwater rig. I can keep the invisx on for 2-3 years depending upon how much I use each rod, I usually will spray the line with conditioner 2-3 times a year. I just cut off a couple of feet when it gets scuffed and keep fishing. You can't do that with Mono, it will degrade with heat and sunlight and become brittle and break very easy. I don't even listen to the FC ney sayers, to me Seagar Invisx is the top fishing line out there and it's all I use in Floro line. I'm sure the Tatsu is better but it's just crazy priced.
  6. Yea, the regular plug for a typical bass boat does not work on a jon boat where you take the trolling motor off the bracket after each trip. This is the best plug I've found for that.
  7. What type of line are you using ? It does make a difference, i use Seagar Invisx, and never had a problem, I always use 15lb Floro, and when it breaks and doesn't happen often, it's at the knot.
  8. It's a very solid plug made for TM's. Don't need a Receptacle, I got a Male and Female end. I remove the Trolling motor after each use. the 8 Ga wire with the Circuit breaker made all the difference works great now.
  9. I used to live in LOL, I lived on Marsh Hawk lake, it was sizable but you need to know someone to launch a boat there. I just saw a show where they were catch huge bass in a retention pond right off of 75 somewhere.
  10. I bought this for the plug, looks really well made http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tracer-outdoor-Products-Trolling-Motor-Plug/29370802
  11. I bought a war eagle 1542 last year. The dealer wired the boat with 10 GA wire and a 30 amp in line fuse. Last week the trolling motor stopped working 1 hr into fishing. I checked the wires and the fuse had melted. I checked the manual when I got home and the manual suggested 6-8 GA wire and a 60 amp circuit breaker. I had no idea that the wires coming off a 12v battery could get that hot. I re wiring the boat with 8 ga wire and installing a 60 amp breaker. In researching I found out that the amp draw on a 12v is twice that of a 24v. so you need larger wire on a 12v than a 24 v and a larger breaker. Beware if your running a 12v, check the amp draw and wire ga before your paddling around fishing like me !
