  1. The rods are abu garcia, lews/fuji, and fjork?? Reels are Shakespeare presidents 1980. And a Ted Williams made in japan
  2. My Grandpa's fishing equipment from back in the day. Was wondering how old They are. And if they were good for their time. They feel really smooth. He has a ton of old bass plugs some probably 50 years old. Rest in peace Poppa.
  3. I used to be loomified. Until these came along. Next will be the levetian. Now that's a stick!
  4. Orochii xx extreme mission and perfect pitch
  5. Last 2 days this very thing has happened. Wednesday all day 1 black bass. Yessterday nothing. Marked alot of fish all at around 20 foot. No bites.Fork can humble your butt in a hurry. So we salvaged the day by tying on a 6xd And a spoon and got a quick limit of sandbass. Had alot of fun.and got fish for the freezer.
  6. Jig, and probably.green pumpkin 6 inch lizard
  7. Hahaha yeah.my mistake Remove the educated fish from the lake. Caught = educated some what . If every fish that's caught gets taken out it leaves alot of fish that have never seen a lure. I was just thinking about how old timers in my area Loved to fish and kept all the legal fish for food.maybe those lakes were stocked more.
  8. How do you guys feel about keeping bass to eat.could it benefit a lake by taking uneducated fish out.
  9. I watched a matt allen seminar in a tank with alot of lunkers shocked up from the delta. The biggest bass in the tank was 14 pounds. And was blind in one eye. maybe from a hook. Who knows bUt, oNE eye didnt stop her from growing. Another option, if you think a fish is going to die or does die from a puncture wound take it home and eat it. If it's legal.
  10. I have 2 e6x don't use them for cranking but I like them alot. 894 jw and an 843 mbr that I really like. Not as good as my 843 mbr imx but it's close.I've fished many rods in the 100-200 dollar range. By far the best in my opinion is the falcon cara t7 or the e6x. I'm starting to sell off my TFO, abu, and. Castaways. and going straight falcon and loomis.
  11. Live bait minnows and crawfish. Keep all legal fish eat them.
  12. My 2 for the year
  13. Tom hasn't caught any 15 pound giants after the spawn. But he said he's caught 10s and 12s, through the winter months. Not done by a long shot.he's probably caught more and bigger fish after the spawn then everyone on this thread. I've got some serious respect for that. Given California's trophy potential is the best in the world imo. You still gotta chatchem. I believe California will produce the next world record before Texas produces it's next state record. If they can keep their lakes from going dry that is.
  14. Yup its going to take alot of time on the water. But I love to fish I love the pursuit. I love being outdoors. If I never catch another double digit it wasn't meant to be.and that's ok. But I think I can do it. I'm single have a great career with an awesome schedule. 2 weeks on 1 week off. And I spend a lot of time on the water. 100 days a year roughly. I've just got the addiction for pursuing big fish. It's like the last 2 years something has just clicked. I'm getting better at reading water, natural activity, reading maps and learning my sonar and down imaging. I'm truly passionate about bass fishing.
  15. do you believe 40 years ago no one practiced catch and release and the live bait caught lots of fish that went to the grease. Or that people were gut hooking fish? How would using live bait negatively impact the trophy bass population today? I rarely hardly ever fish live bait. But certainly not opposed to it. And I'm not opposed to keeping legal bass to eat either. I'll occasionally fillet some unders. For tacos. Most of the time I'm catch and release, but I'm also catch and grease.
  16. Other double digit came on a powerplant lake the day after Thanksgiving. In the bend of a creek bed around some flooded timber. Water was around 72 and falling if i rember right. So who knows what kind pattern it was. I hear so much b.s. about power plants and the 4-6 spawns they have idk. In my experience I haven't seen bed fish earlier than february. Oh and BTW my biggest came on a chatter bait, and a jig&craw, the majority of my big fish come on jigs and soft plastics t&c rigs. I've tried swimbaits with some luck mostly 316 pro wake, and predator,as a high scool buddy of mine had his hand in on the development of predator swim bait's and gave me a good deal when they first cam oUT abut 3 years ago. But it's hard for me to put down a jig or an 8 inch lizard. My favorite baits to throw by far.
  17. Because I have seen some fat fish post spawn summer and fall for sure
  18. Pre spawn. had alot of cold fronts and snow through February. Caught these fish in 46 degree water in the beginning of march. Very stained borderline muddy from all the rains and rising water levels. Caught maybe 8 fish all day biggest 5 weighed 42 Ibs. So a fish is definetly heaviest prespawn? Fish can't eat roughly the same weight as it would produce in roe for spawn?
  19. ten pounds on the boga. I've caught 3 over ten. 2 of them came this year on the same day.
  20. Chronarch 50e falcon cara t7 weightless worm rod is grest with lighter gauged hooks. Rated at mh it seems like a medium to me. But a very sensitive light balanced rod. Or if you want to save money I like my 3 carbon lights (old black ones). The new e6x loomis 843 mbr is awesome. Not as good as my 843 imx but. Thats what I have thrown senkos on.
  21. Ya those are destinations I'd love to fish. So many lakes. I do most of my fishing at Fork (except on weekends) and there's many good sleeper lakes all within a short distance from home. It's hard thinking the grass is greener at another lake when your home lake is lake fork. And the more I learn about the lake the more confidence I have. I'd love to go camping and fish toledo bend for about a week. One day I'd love to take a turn key trip to Mexico and fish for several days but. That is a luxury I can't afford right now. I'd have to plan and save up for about a year or so. Everyone I've talked to that's gone to Mexico is now ruined. Reports of 100+ fish days and big. Insane
  22. Think I'll try my luck here close to home. No doubt the fishi g is amazing in Mex. But with all the horror stories, murders, drug trafficking, cartel activity I don't think I could do it. Plus a few gringos driving around 60grand in truck and bass boat sticking out like sore thumbs. Could possibly bring un wanted attention. I'll pass for now
  23. It may never happen. But it's almost an obsession. Im losing interest in fishing waters with little to no trophy potential. Fishing all day for one big bite is the norm. It's almost not fun anymore. But I'm driven from something within to fish for large bass. But it is very satisfying to another site. That is where I get my payoff. Has anyone gone through this faze?
