  1. What are sone good reliable accurate, and certifiable scales that won't break the bank
  2. I really don't change a thing.I think tx has extremely high hook up ratio. And bass will hold on to a plastic much longer than a jig. The weight of a jig head will cause the hook to shake loose faster than a standard worm hook. Imho. Feel a tap take up slack swing hard and high.
  3. well the boat ramp was closed or I would have . Due to drought at dvl.
  4. Hey thanks Tom. Ya I lived in so cal for 9 years nor cal for 4. (30 mins from clear lake) the lakes are totally different there. I visited in September fished Lake skinner and Vail. The bite was really tough. Was a little dissapointed in Vail. No doubt the bass are incredible in cali. Yall will more likely produce the next world record before Texas gets a new state record. But in my opinion East TX lakes are much more fun to fish.
  5. did you get an over run .spool stopped and knot snapped?
  6. I'm wondering how to approach this fall and winter With big baits. water Temps here in east Texas are starting to fall into the low 70s and climb during the day to high 70s. Fishing is heating up and the bite can happen fast. But the water is stained here visibility is decreasing. Lowering my confidence in swimbait fishing
  7. Nice fish. Especially the one with red eyes.
  8. Johnny morris sig. Series.by a long shot. I'd rule out tfo forsure
  9. I've been throwing big swimbaits for about a year with enough luck to be very intrigued to learn all I can. My main questions are why do people preach only throw soft swimbaits in colder water. Why can't glide baits work? And vise versa in warm water. Where would a hard swimbait excel like a spro bbz in place of a hud. Or a bbz in place of a jointed slide bait. I have 3 big swimbaits a hud , a grendal jackel bluegill , and a I-slide 185. I throw the glide bait 75 percent of the time and it produces the best. I have 1 setup for all these baits. An orochii xx leviation/curado 300e. 20# Big game. It works well. With nothing to compare it to. Some guys preach straight braid. Or flouro. Opinions from experienced big bait guys please
  10. Z man and zoom for sure. I try and use the smallest hook I can get away with. And no ewg for me. Usually 3/O offset gammy. Is plenty for 8 inch lizard. 2/0 for 6 inch. I have straightened out hooks on big fish with braid. If I'm fishing braid I always use a superline hook
  11. I sure do love mine. Especially the emtf. Loomis used to make my favorite rod. Until I got a M.B.
  12. Ya the primers are barely getting struck. Like no impression left or indentation. Just like a scratch or slight discoloration. Probably 10 times smaller than it usually looks. And the trigger even feels different. Not as crisp a break. (Drop in timney) ammo are hand loads. Pretty much 100% reliable to this point. probably 150 rounds through the rifle
  13. Catfish. With cheetos. On tawakoni
  14. Took out my deer rifle to recheck zero. Season is fast approaching. And after 2 shots. It quit... upon inspection. The primers are getting struck but with out enough force to detonate the round. I took apart bolt. Cleaned and re assembled. Same results.Any input. Gun smith's aren't exactly cheap.
  15. Nope I have thrown r.i. dippers and swimming flukes. With not alot of luck. C rig flukes have been my absolute confidence presentation this year.
  16. I just want to have fun. After that improve on honing in on deep water structure. I'd like to get better at deep cranking. Always looking for another pb.
  17. thanks for the response. I totally get the "it factor" I primarily fish bottom contact presentations. Who gets the nod for balance and sensitivity? I'd love to get a rod exchange program going but . That would probably hard to do.
  18. what *** and orochii xx do you have. How would you describe it's advantages over the m.b. I've been intrigued by the *** for a long time. I'm extremely happy with the 3 orochii I have.
  19. I work 2 weeks straight away from home. And then get a week off. 2 weeks on 1 week off. Single no children. On my week off I fish atleast 3 days a week. Sometimes all seven. When I was married I didn't travel for work.and still fished almost as much. In the mornings or when she was working when ever.it makes me happy that's what I do. I don't golf, gamble, cheat, havnt had a drop of alcohol in 2 years. My release is going fishing. Or being alone in the outdoors. Where I can't hear cars honking, horns blowing people talking etc. Being out in the woods, especially by or on the water is truly my happy place... Blow Up Your TV, throw away your paper. Go to the country, build you a home. Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches. Try and find Jesus on your own" J.D.
  20. what knot do you use. I had alot of problems with f/c until I learned to tie a good double s.d. jam. For me f/c is a love hate relationship.
  21. In my experience. The bigger the bass the bigger the fight. I've caught several 9 and 10s alot of 8s and hundreds of 5-7# pound bass and the bigger ones seem to pull harder.
  22. I get her to the boat and OMG its huge, I can see her and she's maybe 2.5' does that mean 2.5 feet? 30 inches? Man I'm sick for you. I've caught a handful of ten Pounders and not one over 25 inches. What line do you use?
  23. Seen it happen. 90 percent of my fish are caught on single hook presentations. That's my problem. I'll I'll have 6 rods on the deck. All different variations of worms and jigs. Unless I'm throwing a big swimbait. Those days can be a grind
  24. Falcon cara st amistad. Own it love it. I also own a megabass perfect pitch, emtf, and an nrx 873 ccr to compare. That all work for jigs in the 1/2 oz range. The falcon amistad cara st is outstanding for its intended purpose. That be my pick. No brainer
