  1. I imagine they're tailor made for those areas you mention. And that's awesome. I find it really interesting how some things work great in different hands. There are some sure enough sticks On this forum.
  2. I hunt the o so elusive east Texas split tail.
  3. In my experience they're not buoyant enough to fish effectively in heavy timber. I donated 4 of them to mother fork in one weekend and will never buy another.. For me and my area lakes it's a deal breaker.maybe I'm not patient enough. Or my style doesn't suit well to the Berkeley dredger. 6th sense dd500 is the king round here. I've been fishing the same one for 3 months now. It deflects and backs out of cover when you kill it waay better. And most importantly catches them. Seems to be a big fish bait for us.
  4. I do that when I don't use the d.s. swivel hooks... it still happens. Usually the smaller the fish the more jacked my rig is. I don't like kinks in my little bitty flourocarbon
  5. It's rare I catch fish cleanly on a drop shot my lines get crossed a lot. Even with the swivel hooks. For that reason I like a shakey headr. Or even better a .25 oz swing head with a 6 inch floating worm. Though i do have a little more confidence in a drop shot
  6. The spool is a 200 size. And they managed to decrease the size of the body.
  7. Short answer. Dobyns champion 764 rm cb . Shimano curado 6:1 , 12# invisx s.d. jam. Let the popularity contest begin!
  8. If you're throwing a dropshot it be the real with the best drag. If it's a big swimbait it's a 400te. I just caught my p.b. on 200e5. Not necessarily the best for big bass but it fit the system I was using that day.
  9. Can't go wrong with dobyns champion R.M. line of rods. I've used glass but prefer graphite. I like to crank down fast and then really slow down once I'm on bottom but work fast enough to keep it on bottom and feel the bait through the timber and lay downs. Graphite allows me to distinguish bites from cover. Imo. If you ain't cranking on bottom and knockin off all the trash you can you ain't doin it right
  10. Thank you sir. I may not ever get that lucky again
  11. I keep a fillet knife and gallon freezer bags in the boat. For that reason or crappie or cats sandies. Fried fish is probably in my top 5 all time favorite eats. If you use dikes and cut from the gills to the spine while they're still alive. They will taste awesome. I like to do this on a stringer and then put in ice.
  12. Ah gotcha. Seems petty but I understand
  13. Man idk. Probably not. I was soo woozy when it all happened. Wasn't thinking straight didn't get a length or girth. I just know it was an over for sure.
  14. Man just buy a curado spool it with 15 flouro (sniper,seagar,trilene100...) And be good with it. No need to pay twice as much and get a marginal better reel. Curado is the lowest price point reel I own. And I have a pile of shimanos, conquest, metaniums, cores, chrons, but for the price . Curado gets the win imho
  15. Not a chance Would Pam Andersons bolt ons fall into this category?
  16. I have to hold the rod in my left hand while fishing. Rod positioning, body positioning, and hookset mechanics are paramount for consistently putting fish in the boat. It drives me crazy watching people miss fish from poor body position. Because I'm handy capped to being a good fisherman with a right hand retrieve that's what I use. I cast left. Retrieve right. Always. I'm left handed
  17. Yessir I appreciate your concern for this fish health. As we take a lot of pride in our fisheries. And overs here we go the extra mile to ensure the fish is as healthy as possible. The fish was either in a live well , or weigh bag (for a very short time while walking in and out of the marina) full of water. And revived in the tpwd holding tank. She was out of the water for maybe a minute max. I just wanted s certified weigh. We didn't have a scale or ruler in the boat.
  18. Not big enough. And they won't accept any for several more months. If I ever catch a teen she will absolutely not be donated to the share lunker program
  19. I Think those fish would have bit regardless.
  20. Move to the south
  21. Imo... one set up for shallow and" deep deep" cranking is an oxymoron. No way I can throw a deep crank on my shallow set up. Could probably get away throwing shallow cranks on my deep setup but wouldn't want to. However... To answer your question imo the perfect set up would be a dobyns 805 rm cb with a 200 shimano
  22. Not today. P.b... stoked
