  2. After fishing many high end reels from all the big players I am a 100% shimano man. Havnt fished a jdm casitas, but I do own a aldebaran. My vote says 2 reels are better than 1
  3. Big thanks to James for taking me out on his home lake this morning. James Is a stick he really whooped them today. He caught 6 to my 1
  4. All my spastic mind saw was 10.2 in the title and got excited ready to see pics of a d.d. giant
  5. I guess I'm the only one that has good experience and high landing percentage with a spin shot hook. Trokars. Please don't let.my.opinion sway decision. I use a number 1 orn1/0 offset worm hook and t-rig weedless
  6. Time on the water. Eliminate unproductive water. And learn how to fish offshore structure. Simplify bait selection use a proven bait like a tx rig worm And just fish.
  7. I'd agree. but beware in areas with alot of timber buoyancy is you friend and sometime the more the better. But for sure to the op that's the trick of cranking imo if you're not on bottom you ain't doing it right.
  8. I've caught some giants on a chatterbait one of my 6 dds came off a chatterbait.iuse a simple straight or stop and go retrieve making bottom contact as much as possible

  10. The rebel in me refuses to buy ned rigs. I prefer swing heads and floating worms The og ned rig
  11. You'd have to stock up on flat bill hats and bro jerseys
  12. I've hammered ponds for numbers. But never caught any real big ones probably 6 pounds or so
  13. Imo. You should choose the power of your equipment relative to cover and structure first and the bait second. If I was fishing a Senko In. A wide open area with no grass I'd probably fish 8 or 10 pound test on a medium fast bait or spin cast. If I was in Okeechobee I'd probably fish a mhfast with 50 pound straight braid. Here at lake fork I like a 7 foot mh fast with 15# flouro
  14. The creek arms were as far as I could tell same color and clarity as the main lake no current to speak of I noticed. No noticeable or out of ordinary debris on the surface. I'm thinking the trash I'm seeing isn't necessarily debris but warm water sinking into the cooler water reflecting a density change. But I just don't know. Also I've always heard brown lake bubbles meant turn over. White bubbles were good.
  15. Was fishing naconiche (featured lake on mlf this spring) last week. Was there on vaca. For the whole week. On the main lake I could see a thermocline on my down scan pretty well at around 14 fow. It wasn't really registering on my 2d sonar screen unless you adjusted the sensitivity way too high. A good sonar setting for the main lake would turn into total trash once I got up into one of the creek arms . (So I'd have to decrease the sensitivity to get a better image.) If my 2d sonar on the main lake was capturing a good image on basically auto settungs on the main lake , but pretty much trash through out the water column up the creek arms. Does this indicate a turnover up the creek arms??
  16. No brainer p.b. good chance I may never beat my p.b. of 11.4
  17. Idk why but saynko just bothers me. It's almost as bad as supposeBly
  18. You like it for the same reason I dislike it. Wireless pedal. Can't do it.
  19. All i own are shimano bait casters ,dozens. I feather the spool with my thumb when needed by feel but I set reels all the same from my 50s to my 400s sipping, casting pitching, all the same with the exception of a strong headwind I'll engage another break. Spool with slight side to side slop. Or just tight enough to eliminate side to side play. 2 breaks on. dial in the middle. And I use a pretty aggressive whip cast. My theory is all shimano breaking systems are centrifugal and work based on spool rpm. So if the lure is accelerating during the cast the breaks are working more effectively. I'm not saying I don't backlash. But they are few and far between. And its usually hitting my console windshield or a powerpole in my backhand.
  20. My x5 has that problem. But it doesn't bother me anymore. Which is the beauty of a cable drive you learn by feel, muscle memory and foot position which way you're going to go. But none the less after buying a 1000 dollar unit I surely didn't expect the arrow to go out after a few months. Plus 1 for fortrex
  21. Ultrex blows the xi5 out of the water. Cable power steer vs electric steer. I'll take a cable steer over any electric steer any day. I've operated several electric steer motors ulterra, terrors, xi5, and I can't stand them. But it's personal preference. They do have great features. Spotlock lock link etc. But those don't out way the feel of a cable steer to me.
  22. My x5 80 has been pretty good for the most part. The new design eliminates a lot of torque steer compared to my old maxxum. But I still prefer a fortrex. I logged a few hours on a friend's ultrex it's pretty incredible . that's gonna be next year's tax return upgrade
  23. Funny you say that I've caught a lmb off a rabbit liver.
