  1. Shimano Curado I 20lb braid ( Power pro ) *** *** green rod 3/8 ounce bullet weight , 4/0 worm hook Zoom 6" lizard
  2. Day 3 with this reel and I am still fighting backlash. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I can turn the knob to the point it interferes with the return, and it will still backlash. Drag knob set to highest point also. My citica has no backlash issues what so ever.
  3. Yeah I do have one word every time. It's not a nice word at all. But it slips out every time I miss.
  4. Makes me happy that after last years winter in NY I came down to Florida and bought a house to escape the winter blues. I was back in NY for the month of February ( coldest month on record) Could not wait to get back down to Florida. Been killing the bass all month of March and still killing them now. Heading back to NY next Friday and am depressed just thinking about it. But I will say, NY gets high regards as my favorite state for fishing, just not ice fishing for me.
  5. I was just wondering about speed difference between the two stroke and 4 stroke. With the 2 being lighter was curious if the 2 would be faster.
  6. Welcome and gotta love NYS fishing. I am smack between Binghamton and Syracuse NY. Best fishing anywhere
  7. I have two Phlueger President spinning reels that I can only use braid. Anything else just twists so bad I can't even fish.
  8. I didn't think about the insurance issue. For that reason alone I will reluctantly stay within the manufacturer parameters. I was only thinking about the weight being equal for both. Thanks for the input. Now to find a dealer that will offer me what my trade in is worth. I have researched what my motors value is, how close to that should I expect to get ? 2008 Yamaha f60 4 stroke.
  9. I bought one and after 2 days I am still trying to dial it in. I have a Citica that I dialed in in a half an hour. It is built very well though.
  10. Well that all seems likely correct. I will stay with a 90. Is the 4 or 2 stroke a better option ?
  11. Great reels for the money. I don't think you will be disappointed
  12. I am considering re powering my boat. It is a 2009 Smokercraft 171 pro bass. Rated for up to 90hp. I currently have a 60hp Yamaha on there now. My question is the boat rating based on weight of the motor, or power and torque of the motor ? If it is weight, I could easily justify a 115 hp as the weight is very close. Any thoughts ?

  14. I only ask because I was contemplating trying a different prop to see if I could squeeze a little more mph out of it. I got my results from gps
  15. Is that 40 - 41 by gps or your speedometer ? By gps I can reach 31mph with my 60hp
  16. I must admit that I have the ideal situation. My wife travels during the week and works her butt off. I fish all week while she is gone, and when she is home on weekends, I don't fish. she is such a jewel, she pays for my equipment half the time. Happy wife leads to happy life. I make sure to not say no to her ideas and plans and treat her like the royalty she is. In turn she spoils the hell out of me. I think I'll keep her.
  17. I guess I thought that it was like a tv screen, bigger screen, bigger people
  18. Running my first Yamaha outboard last year. I love the Yamaha. Florida is full of Yamaha motors. Not so much in upstate NY. From my experience so far it has been a wonderful outboard.
  19. Go with a Shimano curado or citica for a reliable trouble free reel. And I just found a company *** rods. I love them for the $ .
  20. I bought one a little while ago. Good unit full of features. WAY TOO SMALL of a screen. It's a toy not a real tool. Trees look like toothpicks on the tiny screen. I will put this in the cockpit and get a 7 or 9 inch for the deck.
  21. My experience last year was with a 10k budget. I found that I had the choice of a 12 to 18 year old decent fiberglass model, or a 4 to 5 year old aluminum model. I chose the aluminum route. There are benefits in each. I go places with my aluminum boat that I wouldn't want to take a fiberglass boat. And I can run a lesser hp motor and save gas because it is lighter. But I drool every time I see a shiny fiberglass Ranger or any other model for that matter. Would I like a fiberglass boat ? Hell yeah. But I didn't want a old boat ( been there, done that ) Actually, I didn't want a old motor. Old boats are fine. in the end I am very happy with my choice, and I can afford upgrades because I didn't break the bank on the boat. Just be sure it's big enough. I have a 90 " beam and wouldn't want any smaller. 18' long. Wouldn't want any shorter
  22. It catches fish just as well as any other boat. Enjoy !
  23. Something to consider is the Smokercraft 171 pro bass boat. I have one and it is pretty similar to the bass pro boat . One big difference between the two is the Smokercraft has two batteries up front for the trolling motor. Going to 24v is basic. I have the 12v right now and can not wait to replace it. In any heavy Florida weeds the 12v comes to a dead stop. I was on Okeechobee last week with a guide who had a 36v and that thing cut through the toughest weeds like butter. I use my trolling motor all day so not stalling in weeds is a big plus.
  24. Been enjoying the spawn in central Florida for a month now. 2 more weeks I head north for the summer and should be close to the start of the spawn there. I should enjoy at least 3 months of great fishing.
