  1. Not so sure My Smokercraft 171 pro bass had a similar hull and was a better boat in terms of trade in value. Dealer even told me he wouldn't give squat for a tracker. That's about the only bad thing I can say about Tracker. They don't hold their value.
  2. I can only vouch fot the Edge 70. My new boat has it on it. I HATE IT ! It's real loud speeds 1 +2 are too slow 3-5 are too fast. My old boat had a motor guide and I liked that much better.
  3. Keep those memories tight to your heart. You were lucky. My dad left the house when I was 2 weeks old. I never fished with him let alone did anything with him.
  4. 99.9% alone. Couple of reasons. 1) I fish during the week and any friend is working at that time. 2) I leave the house no later than 5am. I don't fish evenings so I can spend time with my wife. 3) I haven't met anyone that loves fishing as much as me. Most of the people I know don't really know how to fish properly. I take them out and they will just haphazardly throw a jointed rapala in the water and reel it in. When I tell them you have to think like a fish, and where would you hide if you were the fish. They just look at me like I'm nuts
  5. I have fished quite a few of the lakes here. My choice based on bass fishing would be Otisco. It doesn't get all the traffic that the other finger lakes get. I also firmly believe that Otisco has the best bass fishing within 50 miles. If you want to go a little more north, Oneida is a great choice. As far as Adirondacks, great place with beautiful scenery. Just wouldn't be my choice for bass fishing.
  6. If you were in Florida I would guess Mudfish. They do just what you described. But was likely a cat
  7. http://i59.tinypic.com/zvaeme.jpg just under 5lb
  8. I personally would still use the transom saver. The rest they are talking about WILL hold your engine up, but it won't relieve the load on your transom.
  9. So it wasn't as productive this morning, but it was completely different weather happening. Yesterday was like 20mph winds and heavy chop. Today was near flat with no wind. Caught 2 at around the 2lb mark on a super fluke. 1 at 4+ lb on the jig with Havoc chigger craw is what I have on there.
  10. Only took 55 years to figure this out It's 4:30am and I am heading out to try it again
  11. I always felt that I didn't have the patience to fish a jig. I have issues I never really gave it a chance. I think I might have thrown a jig no more than 10 times my whole life. Fishing has been a little slow, not horrible by any means. But like 4 or 5 fish each time out. Had some luck last week with 4 and 5 pounders on swim bait and spinnerbait. Those are my go to baits. The spinnerbait is my confidence bait. When that isn't working or conditions aren't right, I throw a zoom swimbait. Well I was watching some YouTube videos on Cayuga. A bassmaster tournament also. They were jigging in 20 foot over grass. I didn't drive all the way to Cayuga because it's over a hour drive. So I went to Otisco instead. Probably better bass fishing than Cayuga anyways. Went to Wally world and bought some jigs Put a Havoc Rage craw on there and " Oh my Gosh " First of all I caught my personal best. 8.2lb 4 came in at 5 + And 2 at 4+ I was grinning from ear to ear. I hope 7 can sleap tonight because I am heading back out tomorrow with my new jig.
  12. Couldn't agree more. By the time my end of the boat got there, he already hit it. The entire trip he fished. I never dreamed that. I could see him throwing a line here and there. He actually had more casts then me. I watched him pitching to the beds as I sat back there holding my rod. I expected him to drive me to the fish and maybe give me some pointers if I was not doing it correctly. Never again that's for sure.
  13. Not to far from the topic. I hired a guide on lake Okeechobee for a 6 hour run. $400 and I did not offer any type of tip. It had nothing to do with the $400. I stood in the back of the boat the entire time as he stood up front hitting all the beds before I had a chance to hit them. Pretty upsetting actually. At the end he followed me in as I paid and waited around like I was going to tip him. Ha, put my wallet away and shook his hand and left . Next time I will bring my own boat. Never again. And his boat was junk, lids all collapsed and carpet was shot. Brand new motor though
  14. Sorry for stretching the topic a bit. I have a home in Citrus county. West coast, west of Orlando. I come down for the winter, and have been pretty happy overall with the fishing. On that note, the first lake I want to hit is Toho when I get down there. Any advice as to where to launch and fish ? Any help would be appreciated.

  16. I would fall asleep at anything country. Can't stomach country music.
  17. I am probably on the older side for this forum. That being said, the best " Show on stage ". For me that's easy. ZZ top and Pink Floyd. 2 great performances.
  18. Slowing down. My mind runs a million miles an hour. I have to constantly remind myself to slow down.
  19. I wonder if broken marriages has anything to do with it ? Over the 27 years my wife and I have been married, well over half of our friends have divorced. The family dynamics have changed quite a bit.
  20. I actually bought a 2nd Lews because I was so impressed with the reel. Price was a bonus. Only combo I have purchased with regret was a Gander Mountain package. It was my first attempt at baitcast and I am surpised I stayed with it after that package. Lews and shimano are my go to.
  21. I think you answered your own question. Trimming up too much it will start to porpoise. Just sounds like you need some experience operating the boat. Hold the wheel gently and don't over correct and it will fall into place.
  22. looks like you are missing the lower left mount bolt. Looks rode hard and put away wet.
  23. Hav you checked out Robbins Marine in PA. They are a triton dealer and I am willing to bet you can get a better price than the Nitro. I picked up a 189TRX a month or 2 ago and left their dealership feeling very comfortable with my purchase. I am not going to bash Nitro as they have enough of that going around anyways. My only real input would be make sure it is a boat you will want to keep as long as the bank note lasts. I bought a tin last year ( 2009 Smokercraft 171 pro bass ) . Nice litle boat that was going for 10k. I jumped on it and paid cash thinking it would keep me happy for years to come. Well I traded that boat this year at Robbins Marine for a glass Triton. You get in those tins up here on the finger lakes with a North / South wind, you better put your life preserver on.
  24. Legally it's not worth the hassle. You will be liable for any thing that happens while you are operating it. You will not be able to insure it. I wouldn't trailer it without insurance.
  25. Not sure why it would be difficult at all. Maybe I am missing something. They do it all the time in Florida. They have coolers strapped down in the back. If things got gnarly, just sit down on the cooler.
