  1. MB all the way. I will never buy any other reel. I own several other casting reels, but admittedly not a citica, but I can say my MBs are far superior and pleasurable to use than anything else. Love them.
  2. Don't see myself ever buying anything else. Can't go on enough about how much I love these reels. Feel great, cast great, easy to dial in and change as needed. Love em. Love em. Love em.
  3. Well, I am surprised that there was not more of an all out assault on me for what I said, especially since as pointed out, I guess I did sorta come out "with the gloves off" looking for abuse.. I should clarify though based on the feedback I got, I was not trying to bash it as a bad reel. I do not regret buying it. I still enjoy using it very much. I guess my expectations were just very high for it and it was not as noticeably different from some other quality reels as I was expecting. I am glad I bought it though, as I do enjoy trying a wide variety of rods and reels, especially many of the ones that get a lot of talk about them, so that I can see for myself what people are talking about and form my own opinion about stuff. It is still a high quality reel, but I guess bottom line is that my expectations were so high I was expecting an experience that I guess maybe I can't even define. Honestly, I would still not advise anyone not to buy one, because what one man loves, another may simply like, and yet another may all out hate. Try out as much stuff as you can and decide for yourself what you love and don't, and hopefully one day, we all stumble into our dream setup that we love for years and years.
  4. Well, You clicked on it so either you are ready to crucify me for daring to say it, or you agree with me that the Stradic CI4+ is over rated. I am totally prepared to get stoned for saying this because it seems everyone goes ga-ga over this reel, but I just don't see what all the fuss is about. Yes, I do own one, and yes it is light, but I find it no smoother or better casting than my say Pfueger supremes. If anything, it has a "geary" feel at low speed with slack line. Also, I agree with whoever posted the other day complaining about line slap off the rod when casting, and yes, I have tried different lines (fluoro, mono, copolymer) and different rods (Fenwick ET smallmouth, *** Black, I-Rod Genesis II). Anyone else out there agree with me? At that price I expect it to be head and shoulders above my other reels, and I just don't see it.
  5. I own and use both reels. Hands down I prefer my Lews. It casts better, backlashes less, feels smoother, and is WAY more comfortable to palm. My MB will cast any light lure with ease. I feel the MB is one of the most under rated reels on the market. For the price, it can not be beat. I own four of them and actually the only reason I bought the Abu was to determine for myself which one was better...now I know. (I also wanted a red/black reel to go on a halo twilight red). So final word from a guy who owns and uses both, without question I love my Lews!
  6. Wish I knew. I bought mine on clearance from somewhere online after they were discontinued. I have never seen any bad mouthing of them at all.
  7. Elite Tech Smallmouth is a great rod. Light, sensitive, and feels great with any size bass on the line.
  8. As long as we are talking about their action. I have been told that they can be used for a kind of multi purpose crankin rod? Anyone think that a 7' md heavy could be used for a crankbait rod?
  9. Huh? Wet tree branch? Could not disagree more. I love my ET Smallmouth. I think that it is very sensitive and great to fish with. I use mine for various applications including Ned rigging. I can feel everything on the bottom and the lightest of taps. I have caught some monster smallies on it. No problem with guides whatsoever.
  10. Does anyone else agree that Phenix rods don't get the respect and amount of talk that they deserve? So much talk about omens (which I own) and the same other rods over and over! Seems like the Phenix rods are just not in these conversations enough? Why? Are there just not that many people that own them? I love Phenix rods and think that when the thread of best rod for xxx dollars comes up, they should be in there every time!
  11. I only have MB reels so I can't speak of Lew's other reels, but I love them so much I see no reason to ever buy anything else.
  12. As long as we are talking dropshotting, anyone use the rigs like the VMC power shot that you just tie inline or are all of you tying your own rig. The convenience of these rigs sound appealing, but with such a delicate syle to begin with, I fear that the extra hardware right where your bait is would result in less hits. I still just tie my hook into the line. Thoughts? Experience?
  13. Phenix Maxim. MH fishes more like a medium. Love mine.
  14. I am looking to place a large order. Anyone know if tackle warehouse normally does a Labor Day sale. I know some other holidays they did like 15% off whole site.
  15. My buddy I fish with a big time hard hook setter. I wish I had a dime for every time I saw him snap braid on hookset. All brands, all weights. But hey, "I can pull in ten foot logs" he uses in his defense. Personally I would rather hook 3 pound bass than land ten foot logs.
