  1. It will either be paired with a Daiwa Tatula or a Lew's Speed Spool LFS... Rods I'm already considering: - St. Croix (Triumph X) MH/F 7'0" Casting Rod - *** (*** Black) MH 7'1" Casting Rod - Duckett (Ghost) MH 7'0" Casting Rod Any other suggestions? Also, which do you think is best, of the ones I've already listed? I'm looking for an all around type rod, because I don't have enough money to buy multiple rods for different fishing techniques... UPDATE: If I get a St. Croix, it's going to be a premier 7'0" M/F...
  2. Do you understand the difference between the Tatula types? There seems to be a Standard, Type-R, and now a Type-HD... I went to Daiwa's website and I still don't understand all the differences... Anything would be helpful! Thanks!
  3. I'm on a budget and just want a good all around type BC setup(for bass) to accompany my spinning setup. What do you guys think about this? St. Croix Triumph X 7'0" MH/F Casting Rod MODEL: (TXC70MHF) http://stcroixrods.com/products/freshwater/triumph-x/ Lew's Speed Spool LFS MODEL: (SSG1SH) http://www.lews.com/casting-speedspool.php
  4. I think I've decided the Daiwa! Thank you!
  5. Thanks! That's some great information!
  6. Lighting or Lightning Shock!? Although, I've heard the eyes break quite easily on these 2 rods...
  7. The GX2s are sturdy as hell(good luck trying to break it), but they're just heavy and have no sensitivity...
  8. These are my 2 final choices... Do any of you have experience with one or the other... ? OR experience with both would be great! And to clarify, YES, I'm going to a store to see both of them in person, but I'd like to have other's opinions as well. THANKS!
  9. I've been hearing great things about this reel! I've narrowed it down to either this or the Tatula!
  10. Thanks, man! I think I'm getting the Daiwa Tatula or the Lew's Speed Spool LFS... Hmm...
  11. Yeah, this reel is incredible for the money!!! Anyways, thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely take a look at this rod!
  12. I currently use an Ugly Stik GX2 7'0" Medium action rod that was a gift, but it's too heavy and has no sensitivivity(but the main issue is weight)... I fish for largemouth bass(no bigger than 3 lbs), only, and was considering picking up a baitcasting setup, but decided to just find a better spinning rod. Any suggestions? I have $50 to spend at the most... Thanks!
  13. Is the little extra for the Type R not worth it?
  14. Also, what's the best for under $75? I'm actually looking to pay over the $100 mark for the Daiwa Tatula Type R, but I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for a lower priced reel... Thanks, in advance!
  15. Hey, thanks for your suggestions! To clarify, I'm looking for a spinning rod at $50 or less. The trout I'll be catching won't be bigger that 15 inches, if that helps.
  16. THANK YOU for all the answers! It was very helpful!
  17. It's a small stream/creek. Also, although I'd love to fly fish, I just don't live in a great place for it, so I'm actually looking for a spinning rod...
  18. Oh, sorry! I'm talking about spinning rods, to clarify! My price range is $50 at the most for a rod... As for the size of the trout, nothing more that 15 inches...
  19. I don't fish near a lot of brush so the rod doesn't have to be short, but should it be? I'm mainly a bass fisher so I don't know much about trout... Thanks, in advance!
  20. I own a Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 7'0" Medium Action (6-15 lb line) Spinning Rod, and a Pflueger President reel. They were both given to me as gifts and I've never had any trouble with them whatsoever. The thing is, I ONLY fish for largemouth bass using HEAVY lures, and I've heard that baitcasters kind of specialize in those categories(largemouth bass and heavy lures.) What exact advantages will I get with a baitcasting rod and reel? What length/action is best for largemouth? Also, any suggestions for a good combination? I have $150-175 to spend... Thanks!
