  1. I bought 2 today and caught 8 bass including a 4 pounder at sundown. I really like the swimming action but you can't twitch/glide it because it will roll over and foul. They always helicopter on the cast and occasionally foul up before it even hits the water. Overall they are good baits but you have to fish them pretty slowly and carefully.
  2. A topwater frog is the least versatile in my book.
  3. Topwater-The Rebel Pop-R- has terrible hooks but it is a great bait for a the price and is overall my favorite lure of all time. The Lobina Rico- is an amazing popper BUT it is really expensive Crankbait-Storm Arashi Square 3-Has amazing action and catches a lot of fish around cover Soft Plastic-Berkely Powerbait Curlytail Worm- Not very durable but they are not expensive + they catch tons of fish in the right conditions Worst-The Megabass Pop Max was a lure meant to catch fisherman, not fish. This thing just does not catch fish and I seriously don't know why. One day I was using the Pop Max in GG Bass color and my friend was using the Rebel Magnum Pop-R In Ole' Bass and he out fished me by far. He caught 10 in 1 hour and I caught 1.
  4. If a lure does not have a split ring tie a canoe mans loop knot directly to the lure. If the lure has a split ring on it tie the loop knot very tight on the ring and you should not have a problem. I would not recommend using a snap on any lures as it seems to impede the lures action. Heres a video on how to tie the canoe mans loop knot, it is much faster than the Rapala knot. Good Luck!
  5. 1.Jerkbait 2.Jig 3.Senko
  6. What do you think the most versatile hard bait is? In other words, If there was one (hard) lure that would produce fish any given situation, what would it be?
  7. Owner offset light wire hooks are very good for using lighter tackle on soft plastics.
  8. I use VMC sort shank trebles on my Pop-Rs. They are very good quality and they are not too expensive.
  9. If you fish a topwater popper along that bridge between the two biggest lakes you should get bit. If all fails go to a weightless senko and fish it 15 yards off the bank, also try to find any structure and throw near that. I've never fished those lakes so please don't take my word for it. Good luck!
  10. I accidentally caught a 30+ pound grass carp while fishing for catfish. I still see him swimming around the pond and he has doubled in size in only a year. I also see him when I feed the bluegills (he eats the leftovers) Don't worry he's still alive even after having some of his slime coat off
  11. The Lobina Rico definitely catches more fish but I would rather have 5 Pop-Rs in different colors than one Rico
  12. I think that you are pretty well equipped. I suggest that you buy some poppers, spinnerbaits, jigs and maybe a squarebill or two. Good Luck!
  13. Hey guys, I recently got into swimbait fishing and I've been throwing the bbz 4" shads and I wanted to throw the 6", but I was wondering if a swimbait rod is necessary for that. Can I use my fast action medium heavy for a 3 ounce swimbait?
  14. The ned rig is simply just a worm on a jig. If you have a jig and put the right stuff on it you can basically catch fish anywhere.
  15. I use the poppers like walking baits (They don't pop) and I have caught tons of fish on them at night.
  16. I look in the water and see what small bait fish are there. If its baby bass I'll use a baby bass pattern, same goes for craws and bluegills.
  17. 1.Craw 2.Chrome Black Back 3.Sexy Shad 4.Bluegill 5.Chartreuse Blue Back (Parrot)
  18. The darker colors will work better in murky farm ponds. My favorites for muddy water in small bodies of water are purple, blue, and black. Try using a Zoom finesse worm 4.5 inch, you will probably catch more fish. Good luck!
  19. Well then...
  20. These things are going to win the Classic someday... About the dissolving-these gummy baits of deliciousness catch fish so fast that you'll be hooked on a fish before they even dissolve! Just kidding, they last about 30 casts before they dissolve but you have 49 more in the bag still. I use the regular non-sugarcoated ones in green and yellow colors. I wacky rig, T-Rig, Drop Shot, and use these baits weightless most of the time. To be honest power worms will work better in most cases but for a finesse approach in dark water these work great (for me at least).
  21. Yes
  22. That makes sense. Thanks
  23. I've fished this pond a lot, and I was experimenting with different baits. We had time so I figured I would give them a fair shot considering I never really used mine before. After about an hour (which is the time it took to walk around the pond) I tied on a jig and started catching just as much as my friend.
  24. Hey guys, Recently I've been fishing with Z-Man Chatterbaits and I can not figure out hot to catch a fish on them. I was fishing a stained pond yesterday with a friend of mine. He was fishing a black/blue spinnerbait and I was using the Chatterbait equivalent with a black trailer. He caught 12 in one hour and I caught 1. After my failure with the Chatterbait I switched to a swim Jig and had a massive success rate. I was fishing the Chatterbait the same way I fish a spinnerbait. What am I doing wrong? Why do my pictures always turn out sideways??
  25. This is how I generally fish a jig in saltwater for redfish, trout, and flounder. I only fish a jig like this for bass if they are feeding or very agressive
