  1. I haven't purchased a casting reel since about 2014 and just purchased a Curado DC to replace my pflueger (which I still intend to have fixed). I love it. Can't stop using it. Might turn me into a full blown fisherman again. Popped it on a TFO rod my local shop had on clearance and can't put it down.
  2. Haha they're definitely fun. It's a perfect bass fishing scenario- my farm has a 1.5 acre pond that we stocked with 4 1lb lmb about 10 years ago and it has a ton of native bluegill, craws and crappie as it sits alongside the Cape Fear River and is fed by it when it floods. I try to not fish in it, but sometimes I throw around a popper on the aforementioned pflueger and its usually a fish every cast. At one point we had at least 3 lmb over 10 and now I'd say the average size is about 2-4lb since we relocated the big ones. A few weeks ago I invited a fishing buddy out and between the two of us got roughly 35 fish in a little under 2 hours just throwing poppers. I attached 2 pics of the bigger ones. Not sure on weight but they had some heft. What's the best way to contact you? I have a few reels that definitely need servicing and we don't have anyone local.
  3. Got it. Impressive it lasted so long! Only things outlasting it now are my Shimano Sedonas and my Orvis & Sage fly rods + Reels.
  4. Reel model is a Trion Baitcaster. Model TRI62LP. Definitely inexpensive.
  5. Is DVT your shop? I don't use the reel much. It's really only used to cull the 7-9+ pound fish out of my pond to keep them from becoming dominant and hurting the population. I have plenty of saltwater medium lights to handle to job, I was just more curious about how long these cheapo casting reels last I guess.
  6. I have a pflueger baitcaster that was my first (non-fly) reel that I got when I was 9. It lives on my mom's farm, and has been fine for the past 14 or so years. Recently, it has started backlashing one cast and over-braking the next without any sort of adjustments. Any way to resolve this? I rebuilt and lubed it to no avail. I would prefer to not buy a new reel but if need be, I will. Thank you!
  7. The storm arashi 3 is my most productive.
  8. Flies or Grubs.
  9. I have not had a problem with them. I actually like them considering most of my PBs have been broken by them.
  10. I don't see whats wrong with umbrella rigs.
  11. if your bank fishing I would just carry a school bag and 1 rod with some extra reels.
  12. I generally use them in cooler water during the fall and spring. But, i think the price is a little high for what you get.
  13. I need a break after about a week straight of 7-10 hour days on the water.
  14. I need a break after about a week straight of 7-10 hour days on the water.
  15. I don't need it wait yes I do
  16. These are all of the notable fish I have caught in the past 2 weeks. I know this is a bass forum but I didn't see any reason not to share! 15 pound bonitos+light tackle=20 minute fight
  17. I call it guesstimating
  18. For me generally about 12-15# on ponds. I know one pond that is in a gated neighborhood that has a 3# average and a fish on almost every cast. I only get to go to this pond every once and a while though.
  19. I saw Shimano Curado combos and Livingston lures for sale at Wally World and Costco. These stores are evolving not even my local DSG carries Livingston
  20. Easily a double digit... Just kidding- 1 pound 9 ounces
  21. Crush the barbs on the hooks and it should be a ton easier to get the hooks out. On the flipside you may lose a few fish by them throwing the hook more often. So I guess your decision should be based on what you would prefer, easier unhooking or more fish in the boat (or more fish on the shoreline??) Good Luck!
  22. Fly fishing is the only way I have ever caught trout... I do not live near heavily trout populated waters (except saltwater lol) so I don't have any time to experiment with many different techniques or lures with trout. Anyways my favorite fly for trout is definitely a floating fly or nymph.
