  1. Great advice, thanks guys, I was definitely putting too much into it.
  2. Husker, does the pro justify the difference in price over the BB1?
  3. you're probably right, I'm overthinking this. What got me thinking so hard on it was wanting more distance with a c rig than the TMG was giving me, hence moving to the Tpro, and wanting a reel that would bomb heavy buzzbaits, hence the BB1. My buzzbait rod can probably serve double duty for frogs too. Of course, I could just leave the TMG where it is, use the Lexa for spinnerbaits, and only buy a BB1 in 6.x for frogs and buzzbaits.
  4. Hey folks, I'm switching up a few of my setups and have a couple questions. I'm all set for pitching jigs, cranking, and light plastics. I have some uncertainty in my setups for c rig/Texas, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits (I separated those two because my preference usually involves a decent weight difference between them, last season I got very frustrated trying to throw heavy buzzbaits on a rod that did great for spinnerbaits). Ive got a tournament MB 7.5 on my c rig/Texas rod now that can be moved to a different rod.I love the reel, but I'm thinking of replacing it with a Tpro (haven't decided a gear ratio) for finer tuning and better distance. Ive got rods for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, but need to put reels on them (ideally mid range gear ratio). I'm thinking about a bb1 for buzzbaits since not many adjustments will have to be made, most of my buzzbaits don't vary greatly in weight. Ill probably throw my MB on the spinnerbait rod until I get tired of making myself slow down that 7.5 retrieve. Will magnetic only brakes be a hinderance? I do switch up between some varying weight spinnerbaits. Is the bb1 in mid gear ratio a good choice for buzzbaits? Ive got a Lexa 100 in 7.1 also, I planned on putting it on my frog rod, nothing too heavy, mostly hollow body frogs. The Lexa used to be my senko reel, but I wasn't happy with it and have since moved to a spinning setup for senkos. It could possibly go on the c rig/Texas rod, but it felt like it may not be suited for heavier bombing c rig casts. It is getting Boca bearings this week though, so that might help?
  5. Falls Lake outside Raleigh, NC? Wacky senkos, jig and pig, and shakeyhead. I keep color selection to natural greens and browns, with some chart tails. Good Luck!
  6. That's the breakdown I was looking for. Thanks!
  7. Great feed back, thanks. I think I'll pick up some of the 832 to try out.
  8. This is probably a novice question. I have limited experience with braid. I'm using Power Pro Slick 8 30 lb on a t rig rod, and love it. I'm also using Spiderwire Flouro Braid 40 lb on my bottom contact jig rod, but I'm not quite loving it. Maybe I just need to get used to the flouro braid, but it's loud and thick, in my opinion it handles like masonry string. In my opinion the slick 8 is limper, quieter, casts better, and I just like it better. Is this the difference in 4 carrier and 8 carrier? I want to rig up two spinning outfits with braid for general purpose plastics and one for shakyhead fishing. My gut says go with the slick 8 in 10 lb, but since I haven't tried P-line's XTCB or Suffix 832 I figured I'd ask. What would ya'll recommend? Do I just need to get used to the loudness of some braid in favor of some benefit that I'm overlooking, such as less dig or sink rate? I'm using mono backing and a flouro leader. Thanks
  9. That's a good point. I've never fished dropshot, never even tried it. I think with the TFO/Tourney MB I'll spool it with mono for now as a duplicate to throw spinners, then switch it over to braid as a c rigs come in use.
  10. Good Morning, This is my first post here, but I've been reading your forum for quite some time. Ya'll seem to be the first to pop up whenever I'm searching for most bass related advice. My question regards a new reel that I'm setting up. I have the following setups, and don't really know where I want to go with the new one: 7' M Mod Carbonlite/Orra Wench 5.3 12 lb flouro for squarebills and medium cranks 7' M Skeet Reese Tessera/Diawa Lexa 6.4 12 lb flouro for senkos 7' MH M St Croix Triumph/Pro Qualifier 5.3 12 lb flouro for deep cranks 7' MH XF St Croix Premier/Lew's Speed Spool 7.1 17 lb mono for topwater, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits 7'6" MH F Cashion Tour/Pflueger Supreme XT 7.1 40 lb braid for pitching bottom contact jigs 7' MH F TFO Signature/Tourney MB 7.5 for C rig? or frogs? or t rig plastics? 7' FishStyx Custom ML XF/Lews HS for light plastics and shakeyhead I bought the Lews Tourney MB to put on the Cashion for pitching, but before it came in I threw the Pflueger on it for a tournament to be able to pitch in the tighter spots. Well I got the hang of it pretty good so it might stay. Now I haven't rigged up the TFO and Tournament MB yet. It's a little early for C rigs here in NC for me, so I'm questioning how to rig it up? Do I go ahead and spool it with braid for C rigs or do I spool it with mono for another buzz/spinner combo? Is there a technique/application that I'm overlooking? I mostly fish soft plastics (wacky senkos, c rig, t rig, shakeyhead), cranks, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits with the occasional frog. Or should I swap the Supreme XT and Tournament MB? Pitching with the Pflueger wasn't horrible (still getting used to centrifugal only), I disengaged all the brakes and spool tension and just thumbed the spool, but had to really work at it to get it right, would the Lews do better? Thanks, Britton
