  1. That's easy .Johnny Morris Patriot rods. Fuji sic guides. Winn grips. Really light sensitive strong blank.
  2. Avid x has aluminum oxide guides. For that price they should be Fuji alconite at least.
  3. That's bull poop. Falcon gave me a new rod 8 years after the warranty was over. My Bucoo had a one year warranty.i broke a guide and asked if they could fix it. They said have a new rod.
  4. My flipping stick is my only xf rod. Xf heavy to ram those hooksets home and turn the pigs head asap to get them out of whatever they are in. Combined with 65 lb sufix 832 braid it's great for that.
  5. Centrifugal should cast further. They come off as spool slows. Magnets stay on. Diawa I think has magnets that act centrifugal. Not sure how there's does it . Regular magnetic brakes stay constant. I'd rather have a loose spool and more centrifugal. Once you use your thumb you will get used to it. The very best centrifugal brakes are externally adjustable with a dial and can be found on Abu Garcia's MGX and some Lew's reels. They can be set up to be basically thumbless during the cast and then you stop spool as bait hits the water.both of these reels will cast really far if set this way.
  6. Good that's more Lew's reels for me.
  7. You need more centrifugal brake.
  8. I'm no jig expert but I do like them. You almost never lose a fish on a jig.
  9. I had a boat cross my line years ago. It spooled me and snapped the line. It was 30 lb test braid. 65 might bend ur spool axle.
  10. They wear way worse when people tighten the snot out of them and never oil them. Not if you have a Lew's Tournament Pro with externally adjustable centrifugal brake. I can set it to be thumb free except at end of cast when bait hits water even with a totally loose cast control. It actually casts further that way.
  11. You don't stop the spool with your thumb before it hits the water ? I set my reels loose and use more centrifugal or magnetic brake as needed.use your thumb to stop the spool.
  12. I never lose dinks only big fish. They are smarter. I think it's due to a lack of concentration. I also have lost fish on trebles more than any other lures. I tend to pull to hard and forget to keep them down sometimes. They jump and give me the fin and that's it. I know what I should do but I don't concentrate due to excitement.
  13. The box should have an exploded view. Sometimes weed gunk gets into places. I've seen it jam the line guide. Then the reel jams.possible it's in your thumb bar mechanism. Start by taking cover off and spool out. Use a light and inspect. Q tips and alcohol to clean . Reel oil to lube.
  14. Try cleaning it. Did you get weeds and gunk in the thumb bar?
  15. I agree with you. Nobody's perfect but some think they are. The important thing is you asked so that you could avoid it next time. That makes you far from clueless.
  16. own 4 getting more.3 lfs which are awesome and 1 tournament pro. which is superior to any reel ive owned including the abu garcia mgx. the tournament pro is as backlash free as it gets.
  17. I've seen braid do this at the start of the cast.put all your centrifugal brakes on and see if it stops. If so take them off slowly. I use a loose adjustment on the spool knob also. The centrifugal brakes work best at the beginning of the cast.
  18. What weight braid are you using? What brand? Digging is caused by think line.
  19. Has to be a backlash of some type. You either have brakes to loose or casting way to hard.
  20. Sufix Advance by far.
  21. 14 lb sufix advance mono
  22. Next time bring a wooden dowel with you and wrap braid around dowel and pull. Fornow if it's to far dug in start cutting.
  23. Cool. Hope he gets many more.
