  1. 52 4 and 5 star reviews to 11 bad ones. Approx 5 times as many good reviews as bad. That tells me you have 11 people who don't know how to fish. G. Lommis nrx has same ratio. 15 good to 3 bad. I guess they both suck.
  2. Bass pro carbonlite 2.0 comes in 7-3 mh at $119. Bass pro rods have never let me down. Has Winn grips and decent guides. Available in fast and extra fast.
  3. Sufix 832 in yellow or neon lime. Skip the leader and color the last 8 feet with a permanent black marker. It will turn stealth gray.i use 20 lb on a Ned rig and catch plenty of fish.
  4. If you really want good hooksets get a 7-6 flipping stick and 50 lb braid with a reel that has 20 lbs of drag. That will turn some heads to sure.
  5. Why bother? Never had a Palomar fail in 30 years of using braid.
  6. I never use backing. I always the straight to the holes in the spool.i stopped using backing because the knot joining the lines put a high spot in the spool. I don't care what anyone says that causes it to spool less flat and even than if the knot wasn't there.
  7. In the past I had problems with less than 50 pound digging in on casting reels. I switched to Lews reels and for some reason it doesn't happen with 20 lb suffix braid. I would get rid of the powerpro.
  8. I use all casting reels. I lock down the drag and if I'm fighting a fish on treble hooks I relax it as they get closer to the boat so they don't pull hooks. Today's reels with carbon drags are amazing.
  9. Keeping the rod tip down or in the water lessens your upward pull keeping the fish down. You loose the fish when the line goes slack and they wing it back at you. Glad to be of help.
  10. Couldnt tell you but I've been fishing with baitcasters 35 years and the tournament pro imho is better than any other reel I've used.
  11. Sportsmans outfitters
  12. Braid will not help you with treble hook lures. I use braid almost exclusively for the past 30 years. A longer rod will help. Don't horse the fish. Loosen your drag. Shove the rod tip down so your not making the fish jump. When it jumps bow to it keep the rod tip down and the line tight. The second you Gove it slack that fish will headshake and probably throw your lure.get a net.
  13. Isn't rodstill under st Croix's protection plan. I'd contact them. Doubt bass pro will warranty it. They will probably tell you to contact manufacturer.
  14. I agree. Bass Pro Rods are awesome.
  15. Your spool is slightly over running. More thumb or more brake.
  16. Get a Bass pro shops rod.Bass pro shop rods are excellent.a carbonlite is around your price range.A Johnny Morris signature series is also.
  17. That's ok I had a $350 Abu MGX which became a coffee grinder on retrieves. It was a great reel prior to that. The gears just sucked. No dirt or grit in the reel either.Abu fixed it them I dumped it and bought lews.
  18. Johnny Morris signature series is the best choice in that range.
  19. Lews tournament pro at sportsmans outfitters for $139 can't be beat.
  20. This is it. . action also effects it.
  21. High end is anything you can't tell your wife about.
