  1. And bring a piece of line long enough to run from the handle through the guides and back out to your other hand. This will give you a better evaluation of the rod action and bend.
  2. I've thrown a 5 inch on a BPS Johnny Morris 7-6 heavy extra fast. Problem is wacky rig hooks bend easy.
  3. And I dont really think you need a lifetime warranty. I've broken 5 rods in the past 30 years. All were within the first month. One was a BPS . They replaced it No problem. .
  4. bass pro shops signature series. i really dont get why nobody ever mentions them. for the money they cannot be beat. patriot and platinum series are even better.
  5. I have signature series and patriots. All of them are great rods. I would put them up against any rods out there.
  6. probably 99 percent of us palm the reel.
  7. Best explanation I've ever heard.
  8. I've finally settled on Sufix 832 50 lb braid on all my baitcasters. You can tie leaders on it if you like. I prefer not to use leaders. If I used spinning I would use Sufix 832 in 20lb test but I don't use spinning. I gave all my spinning rods to my daughter. She uses 832 20 lb.
  9. Another good video.
  10. The 1 isn't to small for a 2.75 inch trd?
  11. what size ned rig jig hook size do you guys use with finesse trd? it seems to me most jigs have hooks that are to small. does this cause less hookups or fish lost in a fight? what do you guys use?
  12. I solved that . I gave my spinning stuff to my daughter.
  13. winn grips are awesome. cork is next and foam is third. i haverods with all 3.
  14. if im really concentrating im a 9.5. i dont use spinning anymore.i dont skip so i dont count that in my repitoire. even a major league pitcher throws a wild ball sometimes . i do agree accurate casts are important. especially when fishing under overhanging trees and laydowns with tons of branches.if im not concentrating im a 8. thats generally funfishing with my daughter.
  15. I hid things from my wife. They find out. Results are not good. You're better off fighting over it now.
  16. Since its white you can color it any color you want with a waterproof marker. I don't really think the fish care about line visibility. I've fished flouro and been outfished by guys with braid and I've fished braid with other guys fishing flouro when the bite was tough and neither of us got bites more than the other. I think putting the lure in front of a fish who is willing to bite is more important than what color your line is.Sufix 832 is probably the best braid out there.
  17. I have grown to prefer split grips for everything.
  18. 139$ for a Lews Tournament Pro at Sportmans Outfitters. IMHO nobody builds a reel close to it for that price. 20 lb carbon drag . externally adjustable 27 position centrifugal brake. Almost thumb free operation with great distance. And it's smooth as butter with brass gears.94 mm carbon handle. And you have money left over for line. https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/lews-tournament-pro-lfs-speed-spool-baitcast-fishing-reels
  19. Ipt on a spinning reel will be higher than a baitcaster of the same ratio due to spool diameter. I use a 6.8 to 1 for deep cranks. You can get reels with a 95 mm handle which gives you more torque and makes it easier.
  20. You have external dial for the magnetic section and adjustable pins for the centrifugal section. If you backlash at the front of the cast you need more centrifugal.if you fluff up in the middle you need more tension or more magnets.
  21. 100. % agree.
