  1. Reread it. I did not say Kigan guides as a entire line were not good. I said at that price point aluminum oxide guides are substandard garbage. That would be true even with Fuji guides which I love. Aluminum oxide is bottom line no matter who makes them.Aluminum oxide belongs on rods under $100 unless you just like paying to much. Would it have killed them to step up to alconite? I think not. That would have been an awesome rod with alconites.
  2. You might want to look at Lews super duty wide speed spool. 95 mm handle 14 lbs drag. Handle side aluminum sleep plate. High capacity spool. Brass gears. 5.1 ratio. Doesn't get much more classic cranking reel than that.
  3. Didn't say Kigan guides were no good. I only said aluminum oxide IMHO wasn't what I would accept at that price range.
  4. Thats the brake system and low spool weight. Great reels.
  5. I wouldn't go over 8lb. I would stick with seguar invisx or tatsu. I personally hate flouro because of management issues .
  6. Then there is the externally adjustable centrifugal system which I like best.
  7. Lews Dual brake system will cast deep diving cranks really far. The tournament MB is a great reel. You might also want look at its updated version the MP.
  8. The Patriot is supposed to be completely American made. I've never had a Fuji sic guides fail.
  9. I know I'm gonna get roasted for this but my Johnny Morris Patriot Rods are in my opinion better blanks and have sic guides at 199$.
  10. My point is for 1/2 the price it has Fuji Alconites. At the 200$ price point anything less is unacceptable IMHO. I had a rod with recoil. I really liked it a lot. Never had an issue with them. Some people claim they groove with braid. This did not happen to me..
  11. For what you want to spend the Johnny Morris signature series 7-6 heavy extra fast is the best choice.
  12. They are aluminum oxide inserts. I'd expect that on a $100 dollar rod.if you fish braid this may very well be an issue. They are also Kigan guides. I prefer Fuji. Would you buy a $500 rod with the same guides? I just don't think a 200 + dollar rod should come with anything less than Fuji alconites. The Fenwick HMG has Fuji alconite for $99.
  13. The avid x micro guides are not even alconite. They are substandard garbage at this price. I picked a Bps Johnny Morris Patriot with Fuji sic guides over it for this reason.
  14. Falcon and bass pro shops Johnny Morris rods.
  15. I hate flouro in ant brand
  16. If you look its looping at the start of the cast. I had the same issue because it's so limp. Went back to Sufix 832.
  17. J braid is super limp and requires more thumb or break to stop that.
  18. IMHO Sufix advantage is far superior to any of those lines mentioned.
  19. Don't really know how many bass would be under docks in that water temperature.
  20. With the externally adjustable centrifugal system you put it at zero set cast control knob then turn dial up and back it off. It doesn't get any easier.after you get those 2 basic settings you just need your thumb.
  21. Why wouldn't you let diawa take care of it ?
  22. Thank you. Almost impossible to backlash the reel. Great distance.
