  1. Bass have been known to come up 30 feet to hit a topwater.Shallow I've seen them go over 10 feet. Then again I've seen where you have to hit them in the head with the bait.
  2. Ditch the leader. Use flouro braid or copolymer by themselves.
  3. Lews Tournament Pro. IMHO it casts almost completely trouble free and further than any reel I've ever seen. And a dc won't catch me any more fish.
  4. Lews Tournament Pro. IMHO it casts almost completely trouble free and further than any reel I've ever seen.
  5. Get a Johnny Morris Signature Series 7-6 heavy extra fast. tip is not to soft and will drive any hook home. rod is extremely sensitive. 10 year warranty.
  6. generally the better the components used and the higher the technology equals better quality. time will tell. the original post was why dont you use a dc reel not what makes a reel quality. dc reels have a good reputation from what i know.
  7. This is why I don't need a computer to cast.
  8. i have no problems with the lews externally adjustable centrifugal brakes
  9. Thats up to you. How much in gas etc... What's ur time worth? Good luck with the new reel.
  10. The lube port is there to help drain water if reel is dunked and it gives direct access to gear teeth for a dab of grease. The lube port was never intended to be a substitute for regular maintenance. i would use nothing under 50 on a baitcaster.
  11. MP is an upgrade with p2 pinion bearing Get an mp
  12. Has a lube port on the bottom I have 3. IMHO great $99 reels.
  13. So being as no reels are made here what do you use? I will bet even though a reel says made in Japan it has parts made in other countries. It's like cars. Japanese manufacturers buy airbags and other parts from the same people Chrysler and GM do. That's why when one has airbag recalls so do the others. Guaranteed its the same thing with reels. A car doesn't have to be made with all American parts to be stamped made in USA. I'm sure neither does a Japanese assembled reel have to have all Japanese parts to be stamped made in Japan.
  14. Yes it is. And if you buy a tournament pro it only gets worse !!! LOL !!!
  15. put the other line on first as backing. then put the 2/3 spool on.
  16. go to sportsmans oufitters and get a lews mp for under 120$ or get a lews tournament pro for 139$. you wont regret it .
  17. Thats finesse enough for me.
  18. senko is not light and should cast on any modern baitcaster. i cast 1/10 oz ned rig on a bps 7 ft medium fast patriot rod with 8 lb sufix advance mono with a lews tournament pro reel with ease. thinking of trying it with a lighter jig
  19. this statement that Lews reels arent good because doyo makes them is a bunch of garbage. different brands have different requirements for their reels. its just like automotive. a chrysler uses parts that are used in a maserati and ferrari even though they are different brands. lews reel are a great value for the dollar and i have yet to be outcasted by guys using other brands. their customer service is also excellent.
  20. ive seen shows where they say they release warning pheromones and some guys live well them until they leave an area.
