  1. had one years ago. it was good but i upgraded to johnny morris signature series. let me know how you like the patriot. ive fished with all different brands and love the patriot. i have friends who fish nothing but loomis and ive used their stuff. they are nice but to me i dont think they have anything on the patriot. i guess it all about what floats your boat. looking foward to your review.
  2. They make a 6-6 mh fast Patriot for 199$ . is that to long? Should have enough backbone. They also have Medium fast. They are made in USA with 10 year warranty. Fuji sic guides. Really light and sensitive also.Dont know if that's in your price range. If it is I'd give that a shot since you like your carbon lites. I don't see the sense in changing brands.
  3. you should have stayed with the carbonlite or gone up to the johnny morris signature series. the new ones are 10 year warranty from the carbonlite on up.
  4. website says still making them
  5. Topwater and jigs are two totally different rods. Topwater you want flex so they take the bait. Frogging is the exception. I have no problem fogging with a 7-6 heavy flipping stick with a fast tip . you can also use it for big jigs.
  6. i agree with this!!! why change ? i might try different colors but wont switch baits.
  7. So today was a poor day according to the charts. i caught 7 decent bass today so im not going to complain.
  8. I would put the bps Patriot up against any rod. its light but strong and sensative and its well balanced. it has a 10 year warranty at no cost. it has fuji sci guides which are some of the best made. bps rods have recently won the bassmaster classic so how bad can they be ? i think most people who knock them have probably never used them. i also have the signature series rods.they are another awesome rod. ive owned st croix and loomis and didnt really think they were any better.for the money i dont think you can buy a better rod. read the reviews for the patriot they are all positive.
  9. if you are good with a baitcaster that doesnt apply anymore. i dont use spnning. its personal choice.
  10. red label is not your issue.
  11. I find waiting until you feel weight on a bed is key. If you do this it hooks them in the top of the mouth every time. I also use a 6-6 medium bps Patriot baitcast rod. It has plenty of give for the Ned rig.
  12. Try waiting until you feel weight then hammer them.
  13. i fish worms this size all the time. they catch some really nice fish. your boys dont know what they are talking about.
  14. i use ewg and dont have issues. check the hook point maybe its bent over slightly. i also dont peg my weights.
  15. thats not braid. its monofilament. the guy who sold you it is dishonest. dont whip it hard when you cast.its all in the wrist.turn the reel so the handle faces up or down depending on which side the handle is on. this will give it less chance to backlash. use your thumb.
  16. i always leave the tension loose. a little more brake should help.
  17. I use micro guides and hate knots in my line.i just respool totally.then again I don't use flouro.buy reels with smaller spools.
  18. Have to disagree with that. Grease is way to thick to allow that. I've also never seen a reel that came with grease on the bearings and I've been Baitcasting since 1990. I've owned Shimano Abu Diawa Pflueger Bass Pro Shop and Lews reels. Not one of them came with grease on the. Bearings.
  19. I have the best results when I wacky rig a senko. The other 2 get Texas rigged but I don't peg the weight.
  20. greased bearings woud shorten the cast and prevent backlash
  21. What kind of line ? New line can do that.
  22. Why not ? Smallies love senkos . They really like chartreuse a lot.
  23. do you mean a Lews mach 2 ned rig spinning rod ? ive never used that exact rod but they have a decent reputation for that series. i fish neds on a baitcaster 6-6 medium fast with 8 lb mono.neds catch big fish also. just because its a small bait doesnt mean 5 lbers wont hit it. the medium action i fee gives e enough backbone to get them in without bending the hook. i use the zman power ned jighead.
  24. Typical post spawn bass behavior. Senko and Ned rig are good baits to try. Fish them SLOW. Or fish at the first drop off for recovered females. We are post spawn here in southern NY. I did manage 12 bass yesterday but they were all scattered.traveled like 7 miles to do it.my best bait was a wacky rigged senko in pink.
