  1. I don't use spinning but I fish Ned rigs on baitcast. I can cast a 1/10 oz on my Lews tournament pro and my Lews Custom lite. The custom lite casts it better. The first year I fished it on 20 braid. Went to mono last year and got better casting distance because mono doesn't dig at all. I tried it on 50 lb 832 and it casts even better on the custom lite. I then did a bathtub test to see how it looks in clear water. The Ned stands up on the bottom and wiggled The line sinks to the bottom. My theory is sitting on the bottom of the lake the last thing they are going to look at is the line on the bottom. The Ned will be attractive to them and take their mind off everything else IMHO. I think this is even .more likely when Ned rigging a craw with 2 claws waving at the fish. I'm Definately going to see how this goes.
  2. Lew's
  3. Thats weird.what if you like it looser?
  4. No it's not normal. Something is hanging up.
  5. Ok that's cool. But it took 15 years before we found out who makes Lews reels. I guess their reputation wasn't enough ? BPS PATRIOT RODS have some of the best reviews out there as far as positive to negative. They also have a 10 year warranty. Yeah it would be nice to know who makes the blanks but I've heard so many different answers to that question over the years who knows what to believe? I'll go by the reputation they are building on their own and my experience with the 2 I own.
  6. Where do people get this information? All I know is its an awesome Baitcasting rod.
  7. If you go baitcast get a Lews carbonlite for 209 at Sportsmans outfitters.gteat reel for finesse.
  8. I have a Lews baitcaster that light.its mind blowing. And it wasn't $500.
  9. Why don't you just buy the top of of the line Lews spinning reel ?
  10. Sufix Advance Mono is the lowest stretch mono I've ever seen. It's not even close. I love the stuff. Casts great no break offs. Fairly invisible . Extremely sensitive for a mono or flourocarbon line. Abrasion resistance is awesome over rocks.
  11. On my flipping stick with 50lb braid I lock it down at 20lbs. No problems yet.been that way since 20 lb drags came out. Bass Pro Johnny Morris Signature series deals with it well.
  12. It's all I use except when use a leader which is rare. Then it's uni to uni.
  13. Over 30 years using the Palomar with braid and it never broke. I crazy glue the tag end so it doesn't fray. Use Sufix 832.
  14. Had a seagulls ****** a split back Rapala out of the air once. I reeled him on and my friends wrapped him in a towel and got the lure out. Another time a huge goose did the same thing and I couldn't get him in. I cut the line and he flew off. He was peeling drag big time and almost took my 400 dollar rod and reel so I cut my 50 lb braid.
  15. 160$ is a lot to me also.
  16. NEVER PUT AYTHING LESS THAN 50LB BRAIDCON A BAITCAST REEL. I also suggest you try Sufix Advance Mono. Way less stretch than flouro and almost as sensitive without knot issues.
  17. Ok I broke down and bought a Custom Lite. I own the tournament pro and lfs reels. I love all of them. I have not fished with the reel but I did take it for casting and pitching practice. The reel is ultra light. It's unreal how light it is. It is the ultimate finesse baitcaster IMHO as I am casting 1/10 oz Ned rigs with no backlash and great distance. I then spooled it with 20 lb mono and started pitching 1/2 oz. Jigs. It pitches further than any reel I've ever used. I would Definately try the custom lite on your klx.
  18. They may be built by the same company but that doesn't make them the same reel. Lews may specify certain parts / designs while BPS specs something else. The braking system is just the most obvious.
  19. Havent tried the pro ti yet
  20. Lews Custom lite from Sportsmans Outfitters for 209
