  1. Neither. It was different stuff but all decent.
  2. I just purchased this rod from Sportsmans Outfitters tonight. This is the first time I've ordered a rod sight unseen without having ever fished it. It's my first Dobyns. I thought it looked like a really good stick for the money. I need to know what they are like. For guys who fish them are they well balanced and light ? Are they sensitive ? Are they strong? Thanks in advance.
  3. Lews slp and lfs. Lews Custom lite is also 4.9 oz.
  4. 50 lb braid minimum on a baitcaster. I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million more.it will handle better and cast further than thinner line. Forget the J braid and buy some Sufix 832. For mono I would use Sufix Advance mono. Smoothness casts further than force.
  5. So a 200 dollar rod cannot be as sensitive as a 400 dollar rod ? Definately disagree. I love micro guides but I don't use leaders.
  6. Depends on the reel. My Lews Custom light throws 1/10 oz jigs with a new on it.
  7. Start with 50lb Sufix 832. Less problems that way.taking backlashes out with braid is easier not harder as some say. Just reel in with thumb on line and then pull line out. Backlashes do not damage braid .
  8. I would go with a Lews Tournament Pro in 6.8 or 7.5. It's 27 point centrifugal brake is second to none in my humble opinion. They can be had at Sportsmans outfitters for 159.
  9. I've preached against graphite framed reels for years. I still do most of the time. Today's advices graphite used in more expensive reels are a different deal. Lew's Custom Lite is made of tensor tech. It's a extremely hard graphite that needs to be machined. I recently purchased one and will give a review at the end of the year. Shimano also has a high tech graphite. I've have snapped necks on spinning reels made of graphite and have seen broken reel feet on baitcasters made of graphite. Hopefully the newer high tech graphite solve these issues.
  10. Not everyone but a bunch. Also going by others reviews and features.
  11. Lew's LFS is the best reel in that range.
  12. I fish from a rowboat without lockers. I use rod socks and Lews reel covers on all my combos. They also protect them when transporting in my car. No bent guides or other damage. For what they cost it's crazy not to use them.
  13. Nice work dude.
  14. I started in 1967.
  15. If you want to pitch long distance get a Lews Custom Lite at Sportsmans Outfitters foe 209.
  16. Never go underc50 on baitcast. I've been fishing braid since the early 90s and have never snapped my line on a cast.
  17. Lews for me. Best reels I've ever owned. I've had diawa Shimano Pflueger quantum Shakespeare and Abu.
  18. Braid was Definately slower falling by approx 1 second. Does it matter ?
  19. Sufix Advance colpoly/ mono. Lower stretch than mono or flouro better casting better abrasion resistance.
