  1. Just what I needed to hear.
  2. So I've watched the video and I got really interested in this bait. My buddy bought 2 and I tried it. I caught a nice 4 lbr on my 2nd cast. Needless to say I bought 3. I have good success with plastic craws. Some Reviews say this bait is durable others say no. Has anybody logged some time with these and can you tell me what you think?
  3. I made my first order and I screwed it up.i ordered 600 low vis green Sufix 832 in 50 lb when I wanted neon lime hi vis. They are now out of neon lime in 600 yd spools. I decided to try the yellow. The neon lime does not fade nearly as bad as any others and I like it a lot. I'm hoping the yellow is as good. HIGH PRAISE TO TACKLE WAREHOUSE FOR NOT CHARGING SHIPPING ON THE RETURN OR THE NEW SPOOL SINCE IT WAS TOTALLY MY MISTAKE !!! Definitely will do more shopping with them.
  4. Does it matter ? There are all sorts of thongs that go into a great rod. You give the same graphite to one blank maker and it's junk. Another makes a masterpiece.
  5. Go with the Lews Custom lite SLP from sportsmansoutfitters.com . 4.9 oz. Small spool.casts great.
  6. Lews top end reels have a externally adjustable centrifugal brake that almost never backlashes if set right. I run mine looser so my thumb does come into play. Braid backlashes the least and is easiest to remove backlashes from. It also does not get damaged when you do get a backlash.
  7. Guaranteed the Lews casts just as far if not further with none of the hassle.
  8. Buy a Lew's custom lite with 27 position externally adjustable centrifugal brakes. If you backlash that then buy a Zebco 33
  9. I think that's fine.
  10. IMHO its garbage. Get Sufix 832.
  11. Ok what difference does it make? You can back off any reels drag to 0.
  12. What does that matter ? They build it to Lews specs. Bps reels are built to bps specs. Abu reels are built to Abu specs. Lews centrifugal externally adjustable brake works like Abus does but they are different. They are each built to their own spec. Some parts may be the same while others are not. It's just like with cars. When Chrysler had an airbag recal so did Toyota and others that used the same manufacturer. Love Lews braking.
  13. Set a jig one time and it came back and stuck on my leg. Had to slice it out.
  14. What he said. Puts all 4 strands to shame.
  15. Over all Sufix 832 is the best braid I've ever used. Tuf line Domin8 is 2nd IMHO. I don't use it anymore because I can't get it in high vis green. Sufix 832 in neon lime doesn't fade badly.ive used plenty of braid brands in 30 years. Tried J braid in neon green and it bled all over my rods and reels and stained the cork.
  16. Where I fish there is a lot of low hanging vegetation. That's my primary reason for wanting to learn.
  17. thanks for the encouragement .
  18. Nothing against DVT but I'd call Lew's.
  19. Because California is bankrupt.
  20. So I watched a bunch of videos about this and started practicing in my driveway. Most pros seem to use 6--10 to 7-3 mh to h rods with fast action tips. At first I tried it on a 6-8 m extra fast with a Lews MP . put brakes on all the way and started skipping a senko across my driveway. Had a few backlashes but not to bad. Next I pulled out my Dobyns Sierra 7-3 heavy fast with my Lews custom lite on it. Brakes all the way up got no backlash but need more distance. Slowly loosened spool tension until bait dropped. Cast again using thumb and no backlash. Now I backed off adjustable centrifugal brake for a fewcasts and got no backlash with good distance. This custom lite on the Dobyns works. really well. I can't wait to get on the water and give it a shot. Line was Sufix 832 50 lb.what I found was really important was to cast really low like the pros say to. Hopefully I will duplicate my success on the water. It's going to be really nice to get baits way under hanging brush. Dean Rojas can actually skip curves around objects. THAT'S SICK !!!!
  21. Pike and musky can bite through any line. I've just never had it happen. That's why they make steel leaders. Don't pick them out. Reel against your thumb pressure then pull line off spool by hand. Sometimes pulling it pulls out the knots. Feel your pull. You have to pull pretty hard sometimes. If it doesn't come then pick out a pile of loops with your fingers. I've rarely cut it off and have gotten out backlashes that bad and worse.
  22. never been bit off by a toothy critter in the 30 years ive used braid.
  23. Stop using garbage rods with garbage guides. Braid is easier to remove a backlash from not harder. It also doesn't get damaged and backlashes less. As far as digging use at least 50 lb test on a baitcaster.ive tried straight flouro next to braid numerous times when the bite was tough and it makes no difference in the 10 years I've tried it. For me it's lime green with the last 10 feet colored black. Slack line sensitivity is one place flouro is better but to say braid has none is misinformation. Unless you have a ton of slack in your line you will feel the strike. I fish senko on fairly slack line and feel the bit all the time. Definately more so than with mono.
