No real terrible experience to speak of really. I'm a fan of local tackle shops and online shops. I just don't like to support monolithic companies like wal-mart and bps that push regular people out of business. I would never done business with them had I not had a gift card. do you have any idea how many people have jobs because of wal mart and other big companies?do you have any idea how many people have retirement accounts invested in stocks in "monolithic companies like wal-mart and bps"?they pay over minimum wgae which a lot of mom and pop stores don't.this idea that big companies like wal mart are evil is absurd.

i use sufix braid for everything.use it in the same diameter as a mono line.

it's supposed to be out in the spring.i heard $100 area.i have a medalist and it's the best spinning reel i have ever owned.i've owned stradics and other shimano reels and diawa reels i don't think any of them were as nice as the medalist.i want a supreme when they come out.

that's true but more exspensive is not always nicer or better.you can buy products that cost less and are better.just because i charge you a lot doesn't make it the best.somebody brought up cars as a comparrison.a perfect example is i would buy a lexus before i bought a mercedes and probably spend less for an equal car.i also guarantee you it would perform with far less trouble.there is a disturbing trend among tackle manufacturers to see how much money we will spend to catch fish and we are falling right into it.

you're right it is like mercedes vs hyundai.hyundai beat mercedes in over all quality and customer satisfaction this year at 1/3 the cost.

most of the time i want bigger fish.sometimes i will fish a lake known for #'s instead of size.it's nice to get out and just catch a whole bunch of fish sometimes.it's good for your confidence. ;D

my post was considering major bodies of water.of course small ponds and bodies need to be managed differently.

avid,if you close the bail by hand like most pros do you don't have to worry about a bail spring.taking out the slack by raising the rod tip after a cast and then closing the bail by hand is the proper way to use a spinning reel.this eliminates many of the line loop problems found with spinning.i would wait until spring and buy a pflueger supreme magnesium frame spinning reel. so you are going to tell me that the guy who keeps 1 trophy and mounts it but releases all other fish hurts the fishery more than those who keep and eat 5 fish limits.i don't believe it.what about all the delayed mortality from tournaments?you don't think that hurts a fishery more than somebody mounting a trophy?besides that far fewer trophy size fish are caught because most anglers don't have the skill to catch them.we are a minority compared to your average angler.as i've said before,we run the risk of sounding like p.e.t.a. when we say people shouldn't eat fish or mount them.as long as an angler is within the legal limit of the law nobody should say anything.

i'm going to color my sufix braid red next year and give it a try.

used one of those compressed air cleaners they make for computers.

i have a skin mount that is 11 years old and looks as good as the day i got it.mounting an occasional trophy fish is not going to hurt a fishery.constantly harvesting them will.in the years i have been fishing i have mounted 1 bass.it was my pb.the only time i will mount another is if it's a monster smallie.all the rest go back.

ew,you got a picture of that discontinued color?i also use strike king and bill lewis rattle traps.they all sound different and feel different on a retrieve.

1/2 oz rattlin rapala in shad or baby bass.i do use other brands and colors because sometimes the different sounds and vibrations work better.

i for the life of me don't get why someone would want braid to stretch.if you want stretch use mono.

if you are going to try braid get sufix performance braid.use 12/50 for the 12 lb rod and 16/65 for the other rod.i use sufix braid for everything.

i would get the johnny morris signature series over any of those rods you mentioned.the johnny morris is as good as it gets.the only reason to spend more would be a to get lifetime warranty.

Just got the Ricky Clunn b/c it was on a big sale and Dodgeguy said it was made by Pflueger so thats good enough for me to take to the Fork.
