  1. for the second time,we know this how?
  2. Yes me I don't use braid. My openion you don't need a winch cable to land a 5 pound fish. some of us fish in heavy weeds for fish bigger than 5 lbs.braid cuts through the weeds better than any line.besides, that's not the only reason we use braid.braid is unbeatable for sensitivity.braid backlashes less than either mono or flouro.it's easier to get a backlash out of and a backlash doesn't put permanent kinks in the line.it also lasts a long time.
  3. silstar is not pflueger's parent company.shakespeare is.they do share some common parts.so do gm and chrysler.so do a lot of manufacturers.
  4. i love my pflueger reels.they cast weightless trick worms with no problems.
  5. keep the drag tight but set the hook with your wrist not like bill dance.
  6. if you are just starting jig fishing start in the spring and fish wood cover before the weeds get thick.then fish shallow as the spawn comes.those are you're easiest times to catch fish on jigs.this way you will gain some confidence right away.i also suggest using sufix braid.
  7. in addition to what these guys said i would tell you that don't think your flouro is not stretching.i have posted line stretch test results that prove flouro has as much stretch as mono.so at 50 feet you get 10 feet of stretch.this is why it's important to reel in all slack like these guys said and then it's a snap of the wrists.
  8. says who?i've owned shimano stradics and the medalist is still smoother than they were.have you ever owned a medalist?
  9. what do you think?
  10. 50 feet of water at lake mahopac in ny on a 1 ounce spoon on the bottom.
  11. i use sufix braid for everything.65/16 on all my reels.if you are in clear water just tie on a flouro leader if you feel the need.i personally have not noticed a difference but if it makes you fell more confident then go for it.with the 16 lb diameter it is easy to tie on any size flouro leader.also if you are fishing 50 feet down with a drop shot you are going to feel a lot more with braid and a flouro leader than any other setup.
  12. if you are doing what these guys say then i would agree the rod is to soft and you may have to much line stretch.i never fish soft plastics on anything less than a mh.also consider a low stretch line.a line that stretchs %20 will stretch 10 feet on a hookset with a 50 foot cast.
  13. i like to run and gun but that may be because i fish from a rowboat most of the time and have to spot fish.when i get on a bass boat with somebody i like it when we run and gun.
  14. Don't :'(, kid. It's only the internet. Ha Ha. i don't agree with fourbizzle either but if you don't have anything constructive to add why bother? I assume your post to fan the flames is something constructive? How about your insult to the thousands of Walmart employee's calling them unskilled people who can't work anywhere else? Is it really necessary to start a thread complaining about advertisements of a company that supports our hobby? Talk about hypocrite. Get a clue dude and quit being a P.C. lemming. I guess you could always 'Google' your opinion like some. : you have 9 posts and you're acting like this.your on screen name says what you are all about.i for one will no longer answer any of your posts.
  15. spinnerbaits are a MUST THROW LURE!!!if you are not catching fish on spinnerbaits you really need to learn how.i have caught lot's of fish over 5 lbs on them.any tourney fisherman i know of would love to get a 5 in a tourney.i catch an easy %40 of my fish in a year on spinnerbaits.yeah there are some days when they don't catch squat but there are some days when they kill any other lure.
  16. the first time i met mike he shoved a camera in my face and i was thinking who the hell is this!!!!ROFLMAO!!!mike is a great guy and i had fun doing a episode on titicus reservoir in ny with him.he is one of the nicest people anybody could ever want to meet.like most of us mike is constantly evolving as an angler.anybody who hasn't seen the show should check it out.

  18. my medalist has 2 full seasons on it and was underwater 1 time.it is smoother now then it was when i bought it.it looks worse due to some minor boat rash.i had 3 trion round reels all over 6 seasons on them that i just sold that were still in good shape.i sold them to buy some smaller low profile reels.
  19. like i said, personal preference.i could see why you would do that.
  20. agreed, I cant wait to get one of those babies. The medalist is nice too. I have a stradic and a medalist and I like the medalist more! i've owned both and the medalist is smoother.
  21. get the pflueger supreme and buy a rod with the money you save or buy 2 reels.
  22. to fine tune this even furthur i will say rods i cast with i balance neutral like reel mech says.rods i pitch/flip/worm/jig with are a hair butt heavy but not mcuh.they still balance at the reel but like a 1/4 inch back of center.this is because %99 of the time they are at 45 degrees feeling for bites.spinning rods i balance right at the neck of the reel.
  23. the balance ponit is a personal issue.i balance mine so the they are balanced in the center of my baitcast reel.this is beacause i palm my reel so it's the logical point in my opinion.
  24. people who work at wal mart are not skilled to work at higher paying jobs.that is why they work at wal mart.it is at most an extra income type of job and unless you're management should not be a full time living to raise a family on.if you want more pay you need more skills.
  25. i know a guy called rebbasser in texas who loves those reels.
