  1. it's all up to you as an individual.i love balancing all my rods.some guys hate it.a lot of it has to do with your body mechanics and how you fish.try it and see how you like it.
  2. you may be right.i have never had powerpro damage even a regular fuji aluminum oxide guide.that's why i'm so amazed he had these problems on glx rods.
  3. alpster, what size braid do you use.my buddy was using 10/2 powerpro.i think maybe the really thin line might be what causes it.it may not happen with thicker braids.
  4. not true,my buddy had 10 glx rods without recoil guides replaced for guides getting grooved.
  5. pflueger medalist at $79in 6040 size. or the new supreme coming out in march.$100 with a magnesium frame.
  6. so now berkley is making red transition.is this to make it even less visible?what's up with that? http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwazillionpg4.html
  7. i'm going out on a limb here.it not the knot it's the flouro line.any line that has that much problem holding knots ain't worth using imho!!!
  8. i like pflueger.like these guys have said, there are many good reels made today.we will state our personal preference without trying to bash other brands.any manufacturer today will take care of you if you have an issue with a reel.
  9. i have to disagree.the differences are in how many strands and how fine the strands are.the diffeences are in how they coat the lines if at all.the differences are in how round the braid is and how tight it is.
  10. FYI, Dodgeguy, I own and use a Johnny morris combo as well. I would throw it in the trash for another Loomis/Shimano combo, if I could afford to. before you do that send it to me!!!
  11. yes he does.what cracks me up is guys comparing the extreme to a loomis.at least compare the best rod bps has.i've fished my friends glx rods and i've fished my johnny morris rods.the glx ain't got nothing on the johnny morris rod.now i'm not saying the glx isn't a great rod i'm just saying it isn't any more sensitive than a johnny morris rod.on top of that the guides went bad on 10 glx rods he used with powerpro.i've never had that problem with the titanium framed fuji silicone carbide guides on the johnny morris.
  12. and i still say power pro is good.but i think overall sufix has it beat.
  13. sufix braid is your answer.forget the color.buy a permaneny marker and recolor it.they all fade.
  14. Ike-Guntersville: Daiwa Light and Tough Rods, Diawa Advantage reels = no better than a bass pro johnny morris.it's im6 graphite and regular fuji aluminum oxide guides. Todd Faircloth-Table Rock Lake: 6'8" M Castaway rod, Shimano reel Mike McClelland-Sooner Run: Falcon rods, Quantum Tour Edition reels Peter T-The Memorial: 7'6" American Rodsmith, Okuma Nemisis reels all 3 of these are on par with a top of the line bass pro combo pricewise . the only setup that's really out there is ish monroes.
  15. the johnny morris signature series are as good as ANY ROD MADE!!!
  16. first of all 20 lb is to light on a baitcaster.thicker line is less prone to dig in which is what it sounds like yours did.the lightest line i would use would be 12/50 braid.i suggest 16/65 sufix braid on a baitcaster and up to 80 lb for flipping.sufix braid is the best braid made.it's the smoothest and doesn't dig. if you try sufix in 12/50 0r 16/65 and are still having issues then it isn't the line.
  17. your friend is %100 correct.
  18. i've had graphite framed spinning reels crack at the neck on big fish in weeds.i've seen graphite framed baitcasters crack at the reel foot.graphite also flexs causing bearing misalignment.stay with aluminum frames.
  19. imho powerpro is a good braid but sufix is way better.
  20. i own a president and a trion narrow spool lp.they are great reels.i had 3 trion rounds that i sold because i'm converting to all lp reels.they were good reels also.one was 6 seasons old with no problems at all.
  21. mines aint the gratast ether!!! ;D ;D ;D
  22. booyah with a clacker.the quality is unsurpassed and they catch fish.
