  1. raul,i do know a couple of guys who have had magnesium corrode.i grant you these guys are rough on their stuff and probably never clean it but i have seen the reels it happened to and it ain't pretty.i would still buy a magnesium reel and just realize it needs a little more loving care.i'm thinking of getting a magnesium pflueger supreme spinning reel.
  2. I agree in principal with your comments but would (as you suggested) think the prices should be adjusted... in the rods to at least an IMX price, which is where I think the high end begins and is well justified. I also agree with DRat to a point and see a lot of posts that people bash high end stuff having never used it, seemingly to justify their own purchase of lower priced gear. flechero i think you have that backwards.they are not bashing the equipment they are bashing the price.every fisherman who knows anything knows the higher end stuff is great quality.i also think a lot of people who buy the high end stuff think that the lesser price stuff is absolute garbage and that's not true either.i would buy a diawa steez rod and reel if i could afford them even though i do think they are overpriced.i wouldn't think lesser stuff wasn't suitable.people should buy what they can afford and be happy and not knock others choices.
  3. having found a flouro i like in seguar invizx i would have to agree with that.since i'm not screwing around with crappy handling line i can actually fish with it.
  4. all flouro stretchs as much or more than mono.flouro is however slightly more sensitive because it is denser and sinks giving you a straighter line to your bait.i've also heard that after it stretchs the first time it doesn't stretch as much the second time.i have not seen any tests to prove this yet.
  5. guide and line noise is one of my biggest issues that i hate.that may be the reason i have not bought a rod with recoil guides.as i've said before,i think the johhny morris signature series with titanium sic guides compares to any other rod made.
  6. it's pick on muddy day!!! ;D
  7. do not let salt get on a scratch on a magnesium reel.all scratches much be touched up.salt will eat magnesium.
  8. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD MEDALIST THAT WAS DUNKED AND NOT RELUBED UNTIL THE END OF THE FIRST SEASON AND HAS DONE BATTLE WITH NUMEROUS 4 AND 5 LB LARGEMOUTH IN THE WEEDS AND IT'S THE SMOOTHEST SPINNING REEL I HAVE EVER OWNED.
  9. pistol grips are great for sidearm rollcasting for accuracy.they definately have a place in fishing.
  10. TO HIS LIST I WOULD ADD SEAGUAR INVIZX IF YOU WANT A GOOD FLOURO.
  11. go with sufix braid and never look back.
  12. when talking about cajun red line we have to say which cajun red line we are talking about.red cast is imho the best mono made.it is super limp and has close to no memory for a mono.red lightning is like wire.i have never used cajun advantage which is their co-poly so i cannot comment.most people who hate cajun red have used red lightning and not even known the others exist.it's like saying all trilene is the same.
  13. i second the motion!!!shimano has started to have issues and they are not resolving them.they never resolved the binding issue in their spinning reels that many at nybass have had.i know many shimano spinning reel loyalists who are now switching to diawa and pflueger.reel mech,i usually agrre with you but this time i don't.ultimate responsibility is with shimano for building the bad reels.they have an obligation to make things right.one reel is an exception.multiple reels are a serious issue.take care of this customer and he doesn't post on a national forum.the intelligent thing to do is take care of it.
  14. this from a world reknowned pflueger basher.ROFLMAO!!!BTW.avid could never look bad.he is an accomplished fisherman and a well liked member of this board.
  15. set the hook.they don't hit these things lightly.they either smash them or ignore them.
  16. you tie a palomar knot right to the snap.
  17. absolutely the best braid made hands down!!!
  18. i never had a problem with them.i used them the past 3 years with no issues.maybe you guys just got some bad ones.
  19. i've caught more fish slow rolling it than any other way.
  20. it's probably digging in.NEVER use less than 50 lb test on a baitcaster.the thicker the line the less it will dig.DO NOT pull against a locked drag to free a lure as this will cause digging in.DO wrap the line around a wood dowel to free a lure.last but not least some reels cross the line more than others when spooling it.this will help prevent digging in.when i was using braid i used 17/60 sufix and had no digging in issues on pflueger reels..
  21. what kind of braid are you using?you should be casting with your wrist and forget casting for power.you will get more distance that way.sufix braid has got to be the easiest casting line on the face of the earth.either you need to use your thumb more or use more brakes.
  22. get a bass pro bionic blade or extreme on sale.
