  1. then try the trion narrow spool.then make up your mind.
  2. if you break one and bring it back they replace them free at the stores even out of warranty.
  3. "Dodeguy compared the Sig Series to be between the St. Croix Avid and the Premier" only in price.imho i put it against any rod made in quality.
  4. i think technique specific rods are bs for one reason.everyone's idea of what is or is not a good rod for a certain technique is different.so to label rods dropshot rods or spinnerbait rods is misleading.
  5. maybe the photos are bogus or the guides are bogus.
  6. that's gonna start a big debate!!!roflmao!!! ;D
  7. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p162/DRinVA/recoil2.jpg this is from another thread.if i was using braid i would get the signature series with sic guides.there is no harder guide availble than sic.
  8. good reel, especially the narrow spool version.
  9. i have a johnny morris signature series.it's an unbelievable rod inho.i'm hoping to get a elite series for xmas.loomis makes a rod with the recoil guides.from what i've heard they sound terrible with braid and can groove.i've stopped using braid so this won't be an issue.they are lighter and are supposed to increase rod sensitivity.i've never fished a rod that had them but others i know have and they like them.tackle tour did a review of the loomis with them and they liked them.

  11. marty is right.spinning limits your choices.look at the line recovery rate when using spinning reels as they take in more line than a baitcaster of the same ratio. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_94739_100001002_100000000_100001000_100-1-2 this is a great spinning reel.it's one of the best buys out there.the problem is all of them retreive 30 inches or more per handle turn.this is not good for crankbaits or slow moving lures.this is why you limit yourself when you use only spinning.you can buy baitcasters with recovery rates from 21 to 31 inches.the 21 would be a great deep diving crankbait reel.
  12. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90403_100002006_100000000_100002000_100-2-6 johnny morris elite series rods on sale $129.this deal can't be beat.
  13. i have 2 bps rick clunns.they are great reels.
  14. if you fish slop learn how to baitcast imho.it can be done with spinning but that is not what spinning is for.
  15. use the slide on butcaps bps has.if you don,t like it just take it off.you have to be fair about it and fish with it for about a month.
  16. Where have you seen it for $80? That's a deal. I have seen it on clearance at Dick's, Gander, BPS, and Cabelas for $99. This may be a question for another thread but how is it that Shimano typically has less ball bearings than other manufacturers? most spinning rods are more in balance than baitcasting imho.a lighter reel will make the whole combo lighter.if your balance point is the exact center of the reel like i like mine to be then reel weight will have nothing to do with balance.
  17. i would not be able to fish otherwise.also a lighter combo takes less weight to balance so it still makes sense.
  18. i take all my rods and balance them except my pistol grips.i had tennis elbow from casting a few years back and the only way i could fish was with a balanced rod.a balanced rod put less strain on my elbow when flipping/pitching or casting.this is why all my rods are balanced right at the center of the reel.even with moving baits you get more sensitivity with a balanced rod because you are not fighting the weight.
  19. slightly bigger.i think 2500 is to small especially if you use flouro.bigger spool means less line problems.i've never had a stiff pflueger.also, how much drag do these guys want on a spinning reel with 8-10 pound line?i've never had a drag issue.
  20. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_94739_100001002_100000000_100001000_100-1-2 it's a no brainer.
  21. it happens because braid is so limp.sufix does it the least out of any braid i've used.use 12/50 or 17/65.other than that it's the nature of the beast.
  22. he's talking about the round baitcasters.they are a nice reel.for $15 how can you lose?
  23. which is why even on a freshwater reel i tape over the holes.
  24. 38-340-870-00 6.3:1 28'' 8.7 OZ 12 LB/130 YDS TRION NLP RIGHT-HAND RETRIEVE $99.95 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44483_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 this is probably the lightest at that price range.the nlp is also a fantastic reel.
