  1. i own nothing but pflueger reels but not the summit.it is one fine reel regardless.if you really want a fine reel save up for a patriarch narrow spool.the patriarch is built on the same frame as the revo while the summit is not.the new president is also built on the same frame as the revo.
  2. powerpro is outdated.sufix is better and berkley's new fireline braid blows suffix away.the fireline braid is a truely round 8 strand brand.it is exfremely smooth and doesn't dig at all.it's time for power pro to come out of the stone age and redesign their line.
  3. My experience with the LTB series is that they are more tip heavy than any other rod that I have used. How is it my Loomis rods balance almost under the reel seat to an inch above the nut depending on the models and reel used? My Dobyns rod is perfect right under the reel seat. My Lamiglas balances an inch above the reel seat. Why do people like to use a heavier reel to balance out flipping sticks? Obvious the reel weight does play a role in balancing the rod unless you build a custom which would be awesome. Perhaps our rod builders will be able to answer this better. a rod that is balanced ahead of the reel seat is not balanced it is tip heavy.the correct balance point is the center of the reel seat.putting weight on top of the balance point has no affect on balance.tackle tour would disagree with where you say your rods balance out.almost all the rods they test balance a good 6 inches in front of ypour measurements.
  4. all baitcast rods are somewhat tip heavy.since a properly balanced rod is balanced at the center of the reel seat the reel has absolutely nothing to do with balance.i balance all my rods with butt weights.
  5. buy berkleys new fireline braid.it blows suffix and powerpro into the stone age.use at least 50 lb test on a baitcaster.go by line diaameter and not lb test.50 is 12 diameter.
  6. get a johnny morris 7-6 flipping stick with berkley fireline 65 lb braid and cure all your sensitivity issues.if you can't feel with that rod and line then your nerves are dead.
  7. pflueger patriarch blows away all the other pretenders!!!
  8. that's one of the problems with flouro.get seguar invizx and spool it on with the line in hot water.let it dry overnight.the next day hook it to a pole and back it up to the end.reel it in while spraying with kvd line and lure.let it dry a couple of hours.you will now have the best casting flouro you can get.either that or buy braid.
  9. garbage.if you are worried use a flouro leader.
  10. fireline's new braid is the best.
  11. the new fireline braid handles better than any thing else out there.i agree with wayne.i use 65 and 80 pound test which are 14 and 15 mono equivalent.
  12. megastike!
  13. 50 pound test fireline braid.make sure it's fireline braid and not fued fireline!!!braid on a baitcaster should be at least 50 lb because the thicker diameter keeps it from digging in.50 is 12 diameter.
  14. for $150 you can get the new pflueger president which is a great reel.for $100 you can get a pflueger trion narrow spool which is a great reel.
  15. agree%100!!!the visibility is only a problem if you think it is.
  16. i'm keeping the gps even though it's a low end model.it's good enough for what i need it 4.
  17. just got mine in.what a piece of beautifull machinery.i don't care what anyone says this reel is on par with the best of them.the titanium depostion finish is beautifull.it has centrifugal and magnetic brakes .it casts a mile and pitches a 3/8 jig like you wouldn't believe.i got the narrow spool 7 to 1 version and put it on my flipping stick with fireline 80 lb braid.with 20 pounds of drag pressure it should haul out the big ones with ease.the patriarch is built on the same frame as the revo (both owned by pure fishing) and from what a lot of reel guys are saying many of the parts interchange.the drag design is definately revo.for $199 i don't think you can beat this reel.
  18. i'm back to using braid for everything.the sensitivity cannot be beat.i hardly ever break off in rocks but then again i use 65 and 80 lb braid which is 14 and 15 lb diameter in mono.i've tried them all and the best is the new fireline braid followed by suffix.powrpro used to be the best but they are not any longer.they need to come out with a smoother braid.their design is outdated.
  19. it's about time somebody besides me recognizes how good they are!!!
  20. good luck with the new reels.don't listen to the naysayers in the crowd.a lot of fishermen don't realize some of us are on a budget and that there are some very fine lower priced products out there.
  21. some of my friends have them and love them.
  22. if it's a spinning reel i wouldn't go higher than 10 due to line twist issues unless you use braid.baitcasters you can go 25 to 30 lb mono or up to 100 pound braid.you have to realize when using braid that strong that something will give if you pull to hard and it won't be the braid.it will be either the rod or reel.guys use braid that strong for abrasion resistance and so it doesn't dig into the spool when fighting big fish.
