  1. that is one of my pet peves about braid.the least noisey braids are the fireline braid that just came out (not regular fireline) and diawa samuri.i like the fireline best.
  2. your not the only one in that boat.there are lots of people including me who feel that way.but i do believe you can buy a rod just as sensitive as a loomis without spending over $170.also a cheap rod with braid is far more sensitive than a loomis with mono or flouro.
  3. a perfectly balanced rod balances at the center of the reel seat.since you palm the reel it would benefit you more than someone who doesn't palm the reel.
  4. dude it's a spinning mass at high rpm.you will throw the spool out of balance.you may or may not notice it but it won't benefit anything and at high rpm may eventually hurt it.
  5. you can't put a pflueger reel on a shimano rod.totally incompatible.the rod will melt at the reel seat.it has to be put on a allstar to take the heat.
  6. pflueger president 2 or patriarch of ebay.
  7. best reel in that price range hands down!!!
  8. once i find the perfect balance it's glued to the rod.
  9. that's the only bad thing about the patriarch.it makes you want to replace all your perfectly good reels.
  10. never tried it.don't see why you would do that.it would slow down your retreive speed.
  11. 'i balance all my rods.
  12. i don't know about you but once i've touched a patriarch nothing else will do.
  13. i always target bass but it's ok if i catch other species.
  14. i have a 4000 size medalist.it's a great reel.
  15. cajun red cast.i've gotten away from flouro again.
  16. i'd say it would but we are talking identical setups with lentgh being the variable.i think the extra lentgh gives you more tip weight which all other factors being equal will deaden a rod.this is why i would balance all of them.if they were all balanced i don't know if you could tell the difference.
  17. pflueger centrifugal brakes are different from most.they have springs which pull them off the drum faster.this means if you use a shimano with 2 pins you will need at least 4 with a pflueger.i set my cast conrol knob very loose.i put all six pins on because i cast hard at the beginning of a cast.the springs pull them off fast so it doesn't hurt distance.i then use the magnets for windy days with spinnerbaits.the reel is close to backlash free this way and outcasts any other i've used.
  18. even though i love the original the president 2 is far better.the drag is far stronger on the new president than the old one.i own a patriarch and the president 2 is the same frame/size.it has a centrifugal brake instead of dual brakes.other than that and the titanium finish on the patriarch they are very similar.get the president 2 or a patriarch.
  19. all other variables being equal i would say yes but i don't know if you would be able to tell.i would say if you balanced the longer rods it would be almost no difference.
  20. tie yout line to a post and back off to the end of the spool.start reeling and spraying.let sit overnight.
  21. gotta disagree with the sic having less friction.same lure on identical rods/reels line setups and it falls faster on freespool with rec guides than titanium sic.i have both and like rec guides better.rewc giuids with braid are quiter than sic with identical braid.
  22. playing a fish to long builds up to many bad chemicals and increases the chance of death.better to get them in quick and release them.
  23. did you fix it yet?if it was just oil on the washers = no damage.if it was assembled wrong = it depends.
  24. seguar invizx.that said i'm not nuts about flouro.one good backlash and you have 20 dollars worth of garbage.tried it for a whole season and invizx was the most castable flouro i found.
