  1. the problem was i was reamed when i claimed powerpro was a 4 strand braid.some people accused me of calling bantam a liar.i said he was mistaken.others posted i was "foollish".now it turns out i was CORRECT!!!i have not tried to force my opinion down anybodies throat.i only suggested there are better braids out there and i was reamed for saying so.i posted facts to prove why i felt the way i did about powerpro.fact is some of the powerpro faithfull got bent out of shape over a disscussion on braided line and then personally attacked me saying i called bantam a liar and didn't know what i was talking about.if the powerpro faithfull like the line that's cool and they should keep on using itl.but don't accuse somebody of calling another person a liar and tell that person he doesn't know what he talking about.you may come to find out you were WRONG and RUDE!!!just in case you didn't read the info in the link here you go. Those are the line sizes I use the most of myself in PowerPro. Thanks for all the info and explaining, Dan. It is greatly appreciated. I am a manic east-coast frogger/ratter, and the SnagProof "WildBull"Frog color is named after me. I designed that color for them. _________________ Share fishing with someone bantam1 Joined: 27 Feb 2007 Wed Sep 30, 2009 6:46 am Re: Power Pro They are all currently 4 strand. "
  2. like i said that's cool.if you like it use it.i just posted this to set the facts straight.
  3. imho this is the best braid made.
  4. http://westernbass.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52787&f=26 this should settle my discussion.those of you who love powerpro are entitled to your opinions.those of you who want something smoother and quiter might want to look into other choices.
  5. i'd get the best you can afford.
  6. pflueger trion narrow spool.
  7. i have a brand new computor and the forum takes forever to load.same thing happens at work with there computors.the rest of the website works fantastic.after you do get on the forum it usually works great once you close the window and then reopen it.sometimes iit won't load at all at work or home.i also don't get email notices any more when someone replies to a thread.
  8. all spinning reels twist line somewhat.spool size has a lot to do with it.the bigger the spool the better as far as twist goes.you should run your line out behind the boat with no lure after you fish as this will remove the twist.
  9. and those big hooks hanging down look natural?i use a snap with no split ring.
  10. what do you use for balancing them?
  11. the differnce is immediately felt.you can feel everything much easier and it's more amplified.you are not fighting the rod weight.the rod sits completely balanced in your hand.
  12. So you are adding balance weights to all of your rods? I prefer my balance points to be an inch or two in front of the reel seat. I can usually achieve that without weights. . Wayne, I understand that fingers should feel the vibration before the waves travel to the back of the rod tip but I think the waves travel back and forth through the rod too fast for our fingers to tell the difference between the vibrations on the way from the front to the back or the back to the front. On a hollow piece of graphite like a fishing rod I don't see how it's possible to add anything to any place on the rod without dampening the sensitivity somehow. At least that's how I think of it, like a high speed echo that goes back and forth throughout the rod. Does that even make sense? yes i balance all my rods.the weightless tip makes it easier to feel things because you are not fighting the rod weight.
  13. (1)all rods are tip heavy. (2)imho the correct balance point is the center of the reel seat.this makes the rod neutral when you hold it. (3)this means any reel no matter what it weighs will work on a propely balanced rod and not change the balance. (4)this can only be acheived with balance weights. (5)when fishing a properly balanced rod feels weightless even though you have added weight to the butt end.this cause less fatigue and makes it easier to feel bites. 14. i've used the trion rounds and they are fantastic reels.i sold all my aBU REELS AND BOUGHT TRION ROUNDS.i have to disagree with the mudster on this one.
  15. i've broken necks on graphite frame spinning reels.also when they flex it misaligns the bearings.
  16. i would not get the president because it has a graphite frame.i would spend a few extra $ and get the president xt which has an aluminum frame.
  17. these are the best. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20293&id=0042807114447a&navCount=1&podId=0042807&parentId=cat20293&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
  18. i fish deep diving cranks on fireline braid 65 /15 diameter over rocks all day without a retie.yes it frays slightly after a whole day but it never snaps!!!i walk the crank up and down the rocks with it.this is yet another area where i think it surpasses all other braids.
  19. i have 2 $500 combos at the bottom of my lake.hope the fish are using them and laughing at me.
  20. i use the regular braid.the only difference is the colors.the line doesn't hold any more water than any other braid.i have not found it to be an issue.the regular braid holds it's color better than any other.i cannot speak for tracer braid on that point.
  21. what waxy gummy coating are you talking about?powerpro has the worst coating in the world.to me that's a waxy gummy coating.the new fireline braid loses some color and softens a bit but i would hardly call it a waxy gummy coating.
  22. you don't know what you are missing!!! ;D
