  1. if there is oil on the drag washers you can fix it by tightening the drag and puling line offf against the drag until the friction wipes the oil off.if not just get a pflueger patriarch and be done with it. ;D
  2. i've owned both.the supreme is lighter and smoother.the 4000 size shimano weighs 14.1 oz. the supreme weighs 9.6 in the same size.that's 4.5 oz of weight. The Supreme also has a magnesium frame. Why not mention that? : Having owned two Supremes (one that was fished for five months and blew up, Pure Fishing sent me a new replacement, it was immediately sold), I know what they are. and what about all the shumbindo stradics and symetres that bound up when wet?shimbindo never admitted there was a problem.it is well known on the internet.i know many ex-shimbindo users who switched to diawa because of this after getting no satisfaction from shimbindo. any manufactuer can build a bum reel.at least pflueger sent you a new reel.shimbindo left a lot of guys out in the cold and told them nothing was wrong.i give the superior customer service to pflueger on that one.
  3. as you may have heard me say before imho the correct balance point of a rod is the center of the reel seat.even on a spinning rod this is so because most people i see have the neck coming out between their 2 center fingers.if you balance your rods to the center of the reel seat they balance with any reel on them.
  4. love the reel choice.take the spool out and oil the bearings.

  6. It is a no brainer. The Symetre is the better reel. not even.
  7. the shimano guys will say symetre.it's a no brainer.get the supreme.
  8. centrifugal brakes with magnets added rules.when you get a windy day and want to cast jerk baits or spinnerbaits into the wind you just turn up the magnets a little.wind stops you turn them off.
  9. i can fit a 7-6 flipping stick in my kia rio.
  10. if you had it 2 seasons it's not the same pro qualifier they make today.
  11. just the patriarch.it's a fine reel.li've heard lot's of parts the same.both from pure fishing.
  12. nice reel but i'd buy the patriarch xt first.
  13. i know.no offense taken.
  14. true.and that's a good system also.
  15. not if they don't sell. Right now there's only 2 factories making reels with this process. They're both maxed out on production with orders backed up. I'm pretty sure other factories are already working on it. I'd say within 2 years you likely won't see any more magnesium reels. if you look at the weight specs those reels are not really that light.magnesium is still lighter.you also don't need to buy a steez to get a great magnesium reel at least in a spinning model.i also don't think you can put titanium depostion on a composite reel so those of us who like indestructable finishes will stick with aluminum.
  16. not if they don't sell. You'll buy it if it says "Johnny Morris" on the side....admit it! i would never buy a reel that does not have a metal frame no matter whose name was on it. btw,i do like other rods other than my bps johnny morris.those american rodsmiths rods with the golf grips look nice.i like st. croix rods also.
  17. centrifugal brakes in the beginning and then they back off. magnets work during entire cast. thumb works when you tell it. spool tension is entire cast because it's constant drag.
  18. bump up to 8 lb cajun red.it is very strong line for a light line.
  19. not if they don't sell.
  20. i've had the necks crack on spinning reels of different brands and my buddies have had the reel feet break numerous times also.
  21. what they should do is use titanium deposition like they use on the patriarch and then it would have a finish that can withstand anything.
  22. cast with the handle up.it helps stop backlash.backlash at the front of the cast is controled by turning more brakes on.backlash during the cast is controlled by spool tension or your thumb.when you get good you can use no spool tension and just your thumb.
  23. kvd''s power of concentration is second to none.he is also the master of the reaction strike.kvd does not wait for a bite.kvd makes fish bite.
  24. there is no better casting stock reel than a pflueger patriarch imho.
