  1. i jump all over people who think it's great to break a 400 rod and then pay 50 to replace it.imho i hear of more loomis rods snapping on the internet then any other brand.if it was a car it would be recalled.you don't hear nearly as much of st.croix or others snapping.they may be light and sensitive but i just don't get it.most guys who tourney fish for money don't use them either.i think it's a status symbol more than anything else.but if guys like them have a ball.as far as powerpro i just try to help people buy a better braid at a better price.
  2. I have three reels with dual braking, and while they make casting a joy, I have yet to meet a BC that I can't backlash. Catch a bait on your motor, light, seat, console, etc. and your beloved Pflueger will blow up just like any other. agreed, but i meant under normal circumstances.i had some horrible treelashes.
  3. Or you couldn't resist another chance to criticize somebody for wanting to use equipment different then yours. Or wasn't that you just have a deep hatred for Shimano/G. Loomis/Power Pro? you guys have no sense of humor !!!i was joking !!! how many times has my love of pflueger reels been critisized and i don't cry about it !!! btw,i don't hate shimano or powerpro.shimano makes awesome casting reels.powerrpro i used to use all the time but now there are better products.loomis i just don't get.i would buy a st.croix or american rodsmiths titanium ultra first any day.would you guys buy a glx if it had a one year warranty and no expiditor service?
  4. the last # is how many times it will snap.multiply that by $50 and you get how much extra you paid for your warranty.ROFLMAO !!!! i couldn't resist !!!
  5. when you cast overhand your reel handle should point down.this puts less centrifugal force on the spool.learn to use your thumb or buy a pflueger patriarch with dual brakes and set it up so it never backlashes.
  6. it diggs in to much.powerpro is far from the best braid.it is an outdated 4 strand braid.sufix is better and fireline braid and diawa samurai are even better than suffix. After seeing the fireline box over and over again i decided to give it a try I started using it at the begging of last season, it is deff. the best braid i have used.I haven't had any issues at all. Thanks Dodgeguy! -matt- you are very welcome !!!

  8. i have a friend who breaks about 5 a year.i know another guy whose buddy fishes them and breaks a bunch every year.they think it's great to pay $50 to replace a $380 rod.they are so exspensive because the cost of the second rod is figured in.no company is in bussiness to lose money.some guys may never break them because they are extra carefull with them.recoil guides are awesome but you can pay far less and get them.i would go with a st.croix legend extreme before a glx.i've never heard of a lot of guys breaking st croix rods but i have with loomis.st.croixs warranty is every bit as good if not better.we had one guy on this forum who was denied warranty by loomis and was then told he could not pay the $50 to use the expiditor service.
  9. i've given up on flouro.to much cost not enough benefits and to many headaches.as a matter of fact i don't see it catching any more fish over the years than a good mono line.
  10. any long rod will be tip heavy.the magnesiums are no exception.get a rod balancer and balance the rod when you get it.if you like it balanced then glue it on the rod.
  11. what kind of braid are you using?some have more drag than others.spiderwire stealth has a lot of drag.fireline and diawa braid have very little drag.any braid will have more drag than a smooth flouro.the line i've used with the least drag is cajun red cast mono.
  12. i know a couple of guys who have them and love them.i was considering buying one.
  13. I had a Supreme 8035. It lasted two trips. The reels I'm using are a Stradic 2500FH and a 2500FI. Bail is always closed by hand. I filled a spare spool with 20/6 PowerPro earlier this week, going to give it a try over the next few weeks. powerpro will work but i would have picked fireline braid or diawa samurai.
  14. Dodge - as much as I like Suffix, I finally spooled up a reel with Fireline braid. It's looking like it may be my new favorite. told you it was good.i'm not using braid this year.i'm doing a study.fireline braid and diwa samurai are the 2 best braids.
  15. YOU NEED A PFLUEGER SUPPREME XT IN A 3500 SIZE.SMALL SPOOLS SUCK FOR LINE TWIST.you need some really limp line or braid.you need to close the bail by hand after lifting the rod to make sure there are no loops in the line.i also hate spinning which is why i only own one.
  16. X2. You know how frugal I am, dan. I Sony even buy it anymore. cajun red makes a bunch of different lines.it has to be red cast to be limp.all the others are stiffer.red lightening is like wire.advantage is even to stiff for my taste.
  17. it's good line but cajun red cast is better, stronger, limper and more abrasion resistant.it's also cheaper.
  18. patriarch xt is lighter than a patriarch.i would buy either over the premier becuase of the titanium deposition finish which is close to indestructable and will look good years after the premier looks like doo-doo.
  19. bass pro claims to have there own rod factory.it's in the catalog.
  20. pflueger patriarch all the way.
  21. last year when the weeds dissappeared i caught 0.years previous it was fairly common.never caught a six. caught one 7 3/4.i know 8's have been caught.
  22. 15 feet but bait was around 4 feet deep.thanks for the advice.i never use fish id.i only turned it on out of curiosity.i think most of the fish are to close to the bottom to show up.
  23. titicus 4-18-10 water temps were down to 55 degrees from last weeks 58.this reservoir keeps confusing me.no matter where i go on it i cannot mark fish.even with my fishmark on fish id all you see are tiny fish.the bass must be hugging the bottom.there were no fish on beds or shallow at all.today the wind was horrible all day.even with the anchor down you got blown around.rowing was a definite back workout.i did manage to catch 2 fish on a lipless rattlin rapala 1/2 oz shad pattern.one was 3lbs which i didn't get a picture of and here's the 5-14 that made it worth all the work !!!
