  1. when burning a 7/8 oz clackin rap or 1/2 oz spinnerbait above a weedbed that comes very close to the surface the larger (14 lb) DIAMETER of 65 lb braid compared to the 6lb DIAMETER of 15 lb braid will help keep the lure up above the weeds and not get snagged.also the 65 will not dig on a baitcaster where the 15 will.
  2. hope you like it.it comes in 65/14.the 8 strand starts at 30 lb test if i am correct.
  3. kent,i have to give you one bit of advice.
  4. a shock leader? what is the reason for the larger leader for bass fishing? chucking big swimbaits/plugs? i guess you wouldnt use it for most braided lines, a 100# leader on 50#PP is going to be huge! roadwarrior - why do you use such heavy braided line (as many others do, including pros) on your setups? im just curious, i just started playing around with 20#PP, and it seems about 30# would be strong enough for heavy cover. -z the thicker the line on a baitcaster the less it will dig in.also if you use the same diameter as you would with mono your lures will ride the same depths in the water column.
  5. you bring a foot long 1 inch thick round wood dowel and wrap the line around it and pull .you will lose less line and lures than you ever thought possible.
  6. i'm glad she caught fish !!! it's post spawn here and hot !!!
  7. i caught a 23.5 incher up in putnam county ny at titicus reservoir that weighed 7 3/4 lbs.that fish should weigh 8 something.that fish at that length woud look sick if it was any lighter than that.congratulations on a nice 8 lber.
  8. oscawanna with lp and my daughter on 7-3-10 fished oscawanna for the first time ever with liegh and my daughter caroline.we boated about 55 fish from 6:30 am to 1:30 pm.3 were picks and 1 was a sunny.we had a few good fish in the mix but a lot were dinks.my daughter caught her share so that made for a good day.the wacky rigged senko ruled the day even though i caught some on a spinnerbait and t-rigged 4 and 7 inch plum power worms.all fish were really shallow in the weeds.we found out that oscawanna has a 35 mph speed limit but leigh didn't get a ticket because it's not posted anywhere.
  9. you have 2 problems. 1)can the spiderwire and use fireline braid or diawa samurai 2)never use less than 50 lb test or 12 lb diameter braid on a baitcaster.
  10. at that point i change it and put a nice sharp one on.
  11. both sufix and fireline braid will soften with use.powerpro also softens with use as the wax wears off.that extra body is what cuts down on wind knots.if soft is what you want than the diawa braid is the best.
  12. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98025_100002006_100000000_100002000_100-2-6 you can't beat these at this price.best reel seat and guides available any place.the blanks are fantastic also.
  13. fireline braid blows away powerpro.powerpro is an outdated 4 strand braid as i have proved in earlier disscussions.it is rougher and noisier than 6 and 8 strand braids.diawa samurai braid is also very good but i prefer the fireline braid because it has more body.
  14. i've had braid on for 10 years with no breakdown.
  15. 14 the most.what a lot of guys are forgetting is that lb test is not the ony reason to choose a line.diameter is used to help a lure get doen deeper or run shallower.to say you don't need more than 12 is false.there are times i run spinnerbaits and rattle baits on 20 lb diameter line so as to keep them above the weeds.
  16. fireline and fireline braid are two totally different lines.regular fireline is like dental floss.the braid is not.
  17. never use leaders.either fireline braid or cajun red cast mono.
  18. congratulations on the rods and your improving health.do yourself and the rods justice and put pflueger patriarchs on them.
  19. fireline braid or cajun red cast mono is as good as it gets.
  20. Do you own a GLX, Dodgeguy? How many GLX rods have you broken? Or are you basing your reviews solely from what allegedly happened to Marty's buddy? If the answers are no, zero and yes, then you're doing the folks at BR a disservice by giving a scathing condemnation of GLX rods whenever you have an opportunity. Pretty much everybody with personal experience with GLX thinks they are top of the line and would recommend them to a friend. i've fished with them .they are light.i've never broken one.i didn't think they were any more sensitive than other top of the line rods i've had a chance to use.i would never buy one.i know a bunch of people who break them.i've read a lot of reports by guys who have broken them.that's where my opinion comes from.
  21. Fair enough but this post had nothing to with the warranty or a broken G. Loomis. i made a joke !!! ;D
  22. I have VERY high regard for your opinion and input. I am not disparaging your post, I simply have a different take. No offense intended. 8-) no offense taken.
  23. kent,pm marty at nybass and ask him how many loomis rods his buddy breaks per year.i thought you also liked st. croix.
