  1. when it comes to braid i ahve one thing to say.
  2. if you look you will notice pros fish flouro on large spool 3500 to 4000 spinning reels.i also suggest kvd line and lure.i also suggest putting the spool in a hot tub of water and spooling it on.make sure it goes on in the right direction.the next day tie it to a post and reel it in spraying kvd on it.let it dry at least 2 hours.i also suggest seguar invizx.it's the most manageable flouro made.
  3. the summit is a great reel and blows away anything shimano has close in pice.if your gonna spend what a curado costs get a pflueger patriarch instead.
  4. yes they can see it.i agree it doesn't matter.but do yourself a favor and buy some fireline braid.
  5. i have a patriarch and it's awesome.the xt can only be better.i'm saving my money for one.
  6. Really...you're really going say that there is no difference between a BPS rod and a GLX? not opinion...fact? Not bashing BPS rods....thats what I started fishing with...the Bionic Blades and the Extremes. They are very good value for the money especially if bought on sale. One day I was fishing along side my father-in-law...me with a Bionic Blade and him with a GL3. He was catching fish and I was not. He handed me his Loomis and I started feeling the bite and landed a few fish. A believer right then. And that was only between a BPS and GL3...GLX is in a different universe. Fish with what you have and be happy...but to say that there is no difference between a store branded rod and a top of the line Loomis is just silly. My $0.02 Don not really.the johnny morris signature series are made out of just as high a quality graphite as the loomis.have you fished both?i have.you pay for the replacement rod ahead of time with loomis.the reason the morris rod is cheaper is it has no lifetime warranty.performance wise there is no difference.
  7. big mistake when using flouro.all the pros who use flouro use it on a big spool reel.i would get the patriarch in a 3500 size.it will still be super light and give you less line problems.also the patriarch is a far better buy than any shimano.i'm not saying shimano is not a fantastic reel.i'm saying pflueger is better for less money.
  8. i swear by my bps johnny morris signature series rods.i've never broken one and i've fished with my friends glxs and there is no difference except price.
  9. a braid that is to limp backlashes easier at the beginning of the cast.a braid that is to limp wind knots easier.a braid that is to limp digs in more than a braid that has some body to it.when we are talking stiffer we are not talking as stiff as mono.all we mean is a braid with a little body to it.spiderwire ultracast is the softest limpest braid i have seen.it also backlashes and digs into itself .fireline braid is a tighter stiffer braid and is rounder.it does not dig at all and casts much better.if cortland braid is as round but with a little more body it would be even nicer.if it is to stiff it will not be.
  10. imho the patriarch xt blows away the others.
  11. as colors go deeper they turn black.black is harder to see against darker backrounds then green .especially braid when it turns light green.my next question is do we think it really matters if they see it?after years of trying different lines under different conditions i have come to the conclusion line visibility means nothing.you either have a fish willing to bite your bait or you don't.if he's concentrating on your line you have the wrong bait. IMHO If a fish is concentrating on your line you have the wrong line. I'd say your using the wrong lure, and or presentation.. thank you.

  13. no need for a leader.
  14. get a green marker and color it on the last 5 feet.
  15. i think any advancement in braid is great.12 carrier does not always mean smoother.i would like to feel some of it.12 carrier does not also mean rounder.if it is smoother and round and does not digg then it would be awesome.stiffer is better.no mono is as soft as braid.the stiffest braid is still limper than any mono.stiffer braids will wind knot less than limper braids.they will also backlash less at the start of a cast.
  16. St Croix 8-) or american rodsmiths.
  17. never saw a dodge worth $500 either but, at least, i am open to suggestion. then you obviously never drove a viper or the new 6.1 challenger.you obviously never heard of a dodge daytona or plymouth superbird.both cars were banned from nascar because they were to fast.
  18. there isn't a rod made worth 500 bucks or 100 to replace.i can buy my johnny morris rods for 169 and they feel as good to me as any loomis.and i've never broken one either.just because a rod costs 500 doesn't mean your gonna catch more fish.there are plenty of rods out there in the 150 to 200 range every bit as good as a loomis.american rodsmiths has a 55$ no questions asked policy on their rods.you can get their top of the line rod for under $300 on their website.there is no need to stick with or pay the price for loomis.gary isn't even part of the company anymore.it should say shimano on the rods.
  19. fenwick and bass pro rods are also carbon scrimmed.
  20. if your braid is loud your using the wrong braid.
  21. drill a small hole through the trigger .it makes the best hook keeper
  22. IIRC, that's cause 30# fireline has a thicker diameter than most other 30# braids. that's cause 30 fireline braid is rounder and superior to other braids.i've used 50 lb in other braids and had them dig.it probably wouldn't dig in 20 lb but i haven't tried it yet.
