  1. the fact is when you read enough over the internet fishing forums you come to see way more threads on broken loomis rods then any other.if you don't believe me start keeping track of it.i hardly ever hear about st. croix rods breaking or poor quality of finish on them.
  2. i would not try learning with flouro.
  3. they screwed up the johnny morris rods.i don't mind the lack of a foregrip but i need a solid handle.they also went with cheaper guides.they had titanium fuji sic.
  4. guess we gotta disagree on this one.
  5. we don't bash powerpro.i used to use it all the time.fact is it's outdated.it's noisey.it digs.it windknots.fact is there are other lines out there that are better.
  6. when worming in weeds and rocks the worm tends to get caught by the tail then your line stretchs as you pull on it.this makes it even less sensitive.like i said the properties that make it stretchy also deaden feel.flouro is denser and transmits feel better than mono.i fish cranks on braid.i can feel when the fish opens it's mouth behind the bait.it creates a vacuum which changes the pulse of the bait.you wil never feel that on stretched out rubberband mono.sometime with cranks on mono you don't even know it's a fish until it runs the other way.i don't think you'd even feel it on flouro.
  7. the property that gives line stretch deadens the feel even if the line isn't stretched. mono lines generally have approx 20% stretch.that means at 35 feet your line will stretch 7 feet.in weeds the problem becomes even greater as the mono grabs the weeds and stretchs like a rubber band . like i said you cannot logically argue this point. Are you saying that if we put out 35 feet of mono, and pull it tight and keep pulling, it will stretch to 42 feet?? (Assuming it doesn't reach its breaking point first.) yes
  8. In my case, you're absolutely correct! I do have some Fireline braid (bought on your recommendation - you finally got me with the famous photo ;D) ready for when the PP finally wears out... trash it now.
  9. the property that gives line stretch deadens the feel even if the line isn't stretched. mono lines generally have approx 20% stretch.that means at 35 feet your line will stretch 7 feet.in weeds the problem becomes even greater as the mono grabs the weeds and stretchs like a rubber band . like i said you cannot logically argue this point.
  10. maybe your bearings are shot.
  11. spb is 6 strand not 8.sufix 832 is 8 strand.
  12. i use recoils with fireline braid and it makes almost no noise.cheap braid makes noise because it has a rough finish.i guarantee most of you noisey guys use powerpro.
  13. stretch absorbs feel.it's that simple.
  14. the newer braids such as fireline braid are much more abrasion resistant than older style braids.i fish cranks on rocks all day with fireline braid with no retie. braid backlashes are far easier to get out than mono or flouro.i don't dig them out i use the thumb trick. braid is far more sensitive.this point can't even be argued logically.
  15. 1 inch thick 8 inch dowel to wrap braid around and pull.you will lose far less lures with braid.get rid of the powerpro.it's outdated.i like fireline braid (not regular fireline) because it is round and smooth and does not dig.you could try diawa or sufix 832 also.
  16. A shoe string is better braid than power pro. I love opinions! World record tuna caught on Power Pro but it's junk..lol I'm 90% sure Tuf line is the same as power pro, if you wanna save money. In tests, 30Lb power pro breaks at 50 lbs. breaking strength is not the only property of a line.powerpro was a great line for years just like the model t was a great car.they are both outdated and there are far superior products out there.just because you still love the model t doesn't mean today's cars aren't better.
  17. more strands.rounder.smoother.has 1 gore fiber strand which causes it to sink when most braids float.
  18. i would use nothing under 50 on a baitcaster.use the lighter braids on a spinning rod.this makes sure your braid will not digg in on you.nothing wrong with fishing worms on a spinning rod.30 and under can be fished on a spinning rod with no problem.
  19. bass pro has totally screwed up my favorite rods.
  20. pflueger patriarch.built on the same frame as a revo.has dual brakes etc.... casts just as far as the rest if not furthur.the best thing is the titanium depostion finish.it will look good years after the others look bad.this finish is next to impossible to damage.
  21. fireline braid or fused fireline?i don't think fireline braid has been out for 3 years yet.
