I would set them up with 14 to 20 lb test.forget limiting the size spinnerbait.by having different lb tests a given weight spinnerbait will run shallower or deeper.
I hate flouro. I would pick suffix 832 braid for that application.if you don't like braid I would pick a good quality mono such as suffix siege or elite.
I keep my spool tension loose just tight enough not to have spool sideplay.my thumb takes care of the rest.shimano brakes do work well.pflueger brakes have return springs so you need more shoes on.i really love the abu mgx adjustable centrifugal system.in my opinion it outcasts any others I've used.
stick with the palomar.i have not had one fail in 20 years of using it.i glue the tag end of braid with super glue to stop it from fraying.some guys use a special burning tool to singe it together.other guys just leave it.
i haven't had to cut a backlash out with braid in over 15 years.you are definately doing something wrong.and i've removed some really horrendous backlashes.
for that money a falcon bucoo is unbeatable.it is lighter than any of the others.it has a five year warranty.they are made in usa and they are really nice sensitive rods.i am in the process of changing all my rods to falcon.
your spool tension should not let the spool have play.you might need to service your reel.or if you just did you might have used wrong lube or to much.
throw out the powerpro and get powerpro super slick or sufix 832.you'll get a lot less noise.braid is easier to untangle a backlash.jam your thumb on the spool and rell the line in.this flips the loops.then release the thumb bar and pul out the backlash.any reel r rod that gets damaged by braid is garbage.
