  1. this whole thread proves my point that technique specific is a bunch of hot air.use whatever feels best to you.i've held the rod your talking about and agree it would probably be a great jig rod.anyway a spinnerbait is nothing but a jig with blades . I liked it a lot better when they just gave line and lure weight info and said what action the rod was.then you decide what rod to use with the technique because it feels good to you.i've gotten so I fish everything on 6-6 mh fast action rods because I like it that way.
  2. sufix 832 is the best braid made bar none.i have used a ton of braids since 1993 so I know of what I speak . I would put 50 lb on a baitcaster and 10 or 20 on a spinning rod.i use moss green with no leaders.
  3. the supreme is good also and less than the patriarch.
  4. don't go lighter than 50 lb suffix 832 braid.forget the leaders.7 ft mh willhandle most situations.i suggest a falcon buccoo.
  5. get a pflueger patriarch. cheap is not good.the patriarch is quality for a lot less than the sustain.
  6. I have a trion and throw unweighted trick worms with no backlash on 50 lb test suffix 832.i totally disagree that braid has no slack line sensitivity.i find it more sensistive under all conditions than any other line.as I've said before ,how much slack are we talking about and why would any body fish that way.the first thing I do is take up the slack.i fish wacky worms on fairly slack line on spinning with 20 lb 832 and have no problem feeling bites.you also have to line watch if you have a ton of slack.
  7. suffix 832 imho is the best braid made.i've used a bunch of the others since the early 90's and 832 is overall the best handling braid.
  8. your falcon bucco is one of the lightest most sensitive rods made.it's just not a ton of money.
  9. john francho is right on.use 50 lb or higher.get suffix 832.if you still birdnest in the middle of the cast turn your brakes up a bit or use your thumb.
  10. falcon.really light and priced right.really sensitive and great action.MADE IN USA !!!
  11. i use suffix 832 and have zero abrasion problems.extreme sharp objects will cut it but they will cut any line.never use under 50 lb /12 diameter braid on a baitcaster.also dump the outdated powerpro.use powerpro superslick if you want to stick with that brand.sufix 832 imho is the most abrasion resistant braid.i've tried flouro lines and hate them.
  12. like I said with braid you don't need a hard hookset.reel down on the slack UNTIL YOU FEEL WEIGHT then a snap of the wrists upward will do it.
  13. braid does not require hard hooksets.it requires a flick of the wrist if your hooks are sharp. do not bend your rod past 75 degrees.do not lift fish with your rod. buy falcon rods.bps johnny morris are also almost indestructible.
  14. I've seen plenty of big fish caught on braid with no leader and tons of smaller fish on 8lb flouro.
  15. get a falcon bucoo over the mojo.it's much lighter and more sensitive.the micro guide model is really nice.the mojo feels like a ton of bricks compared to the falcon.i would get a 6-6 mh.
  16. braid = sufix 832 mono = suffix elite on spinning flouro = hate it original powerpro = why = rough , outdated powerpro super slick = if suffix 832 wasn't made i'd use this
  17. get rid of the flouro and put braid or suffix siege mono on.if you backlash then just throw it on spinning tackle.
  18. a guide falling out is a broken rod.if it's new it should be exchanged under warranty.
  19. isn't it warranty ?
  20. get suffix elite and save yourself a ton of headaches !!!
  21. I use graphite and braid with no problems.
  22. sufix elite if you are going to use mono.sufix 832 10 lb test braid if you want braid.a bigger spool reel will cast further.if you look at pro fishermen they hardly ever use small spinning reels.
  23. that now I hate fishing with my older heavier stuff.i bought a revo mgx and falcon bucoo and together they weigh around 10 oz.fishing with this combo is a joy because it's almost weightless.my other stuff is all good quality but none of it is as light as this combo.i find myself wanting to replace all of it.
