  1. the biggest increase in sensitivity comes from line.you can buy a falcon buccoo micro for 130 and put braid on it and have all the sensitivity you need at under 4 oz for the rod.i'm not saying high end rods are not nice but they are not necessary.
  2. why didn't you send it back to abu when it was in warranty?
  3. all geniuses are thought of as weird.i never claimed or wanted to be normal.it's to boring.i'm creative.
  4. I BEEN USING BRAID FOR 20 YEARS.GET SUFIX 832 AND BE DONE WITH IT.NO FILLER BUT TAPE LINE TO SPOOL.NO LEADERS.USE 20 LB SPINNING AND 50 BAITCAST.
  5. I am in the process of switching to all falcon bucoo rods.they are really light and plenty sensitive.sensitivity has more to do with line then anything else.
  6. i agree most of the time you don't need really long casts.it's more important with crankbaits than most other lures.
  7. my patriarch is smoother but the mgx will definately outcast it.i like the mgx better because it casts better and is lighter but it is 150 bucks more.the patriarch is still a great reel for the money.
  8. or you can buy a abu mgx and cast freespool or close to it all day long.mine casts further than any reel I ever owned.only need to turn on brakes with light lures or lures like spinnerbaits that have wind resistance.or you could go 1 step higher and get an mgxextreme. I wish I could afford one.
  9. that's ridiculous if it's true.
  10. with centrifugal brakes the spool will spin longer as the brakes back off during the cast.
  11. there should be a owners booklet with the reel that explains everything .
  12. thank you john.i've gone from 408 in march when I was in the hospital to 288 now and i'm headed for 225.
  13. never said that but it would be nice .
  14. whatever . I've heard that before and all I know is mine is not noisey.then again it has a recoil tip and most rods with recoils have an sic tip .
  15. I have a johnny morris elite with recoil guides and it makes the least noise with braid out of all my rods.the only noise I get is from the line guide on that setup.
  16. Abu MGX . it's the best casting reel I've used with any weight bait .
  17. I was going to suggest that but his budget was more supreme xt.
  18. oops , my mistake . I still believe most of the noise if from the line rubbing on the line guide. if you listen carefully you can hear it. if you use reels with different material line guides with the same braid you can hear they have different noise levels.also on a wide spool reel you can hear more noise when the guide is all the way to one side compared to when it is centered.
  19. more noise - more friction. I hate it and i'm a braid lover.
  20. how so ?first of all it's a 4 strand braid.4 strand braids are not as smooth as 6 or 8 strand braids.the smoother a braid is the less noise it makes.this is a fact.
  21. i don't want to be a grown man .
