Can't help but jump in to agree.
I have built but only 5 rods in my life. The first 2 were for learning and the last 3 were weighting 2.2 oz, 2.5 oz and 2.7 oz for light, Medium and Medium Heavy cranking needs. All are 6 footers (I am short) and all from Mudhole, One is a CRB el cheapo blank and the other 2 are MHX shooters CS721 and CS722. All using Fuji SK2 grips and Alconite Concept guides. All less than or around $100 a piece. I'd say if "performance" (as Gary Loomis loved to say) is what you are looking for, go light by building your own.
