  1. Yeah I'm driving up so I can meet anywhere really.
  2. Ill be in Minnesota from July 17-23, might be a long shot but wondering if anyone would be willing to take out a fellow angler for a morning or day. Visiting some family and really have no plans for the week so thought it would be nice to get some fishing in and unfortunately they don't fish at all. Will be in Medina/Minnetonka area, would be defiantly willing to pay for gas/lunch/bait/ give ya some cash or whatever it takes, just don't really want to spend 500$ on a guide. I'm 29, from Canada.
  3. Dicks always seems to have great clear out/ sales going on last spring I picked up 4 containers of gulp for 2.50 each ? Need to make a trip tomorrow!
  4. if the bait isn't falling at all, you wont be able to cast...Seems like you have a tangle in the spool.. try pulling the line out and then reeling, could be a bad spool job. As soon as you press the trigger that bait should be moving and if it isn't; adjusting the knob bit by bit should get a free fall started.
  5. your rayburn red is around 15 bucks, the others you can get maybe 5 a piece considering they are not nib....now if you have the yellow and purple "sour grape" hanging around somewhere...pm me and don't tell anyone else
  6. That's an interesting theory! I would think the longer the rod the better angle you would have to do the walk and hook set... A short rod would almost appear to be giving yourself a disadvantage... But I guess I shouldn't rip it before trying it. You've intrigued my horizon, I'll have to try it someday.
  7. I think people say to use a bait caste because you can reel it in so much quicker and therefore cast it back out quicker, if you miss a fish. As for the braid, because it has no stretch you could set the hook quicker when you hook up so far out, usually your gonna get hit right off the bat and if there is stretch there's a better chance the bass spits your bait out or you don't get a proper hook set. To me you throw the spook on a baitcaster with the highest ratio you own or can afford, with a 7+ ft rod and 15 to 25lb braid.
  8. Not to make this a Yamaha love fest or anything, but I too will say the yammys are a good bet. Ive had a 90hp 4 stroke and an 8hp 4 stroke and they have both been a dream, I get them winterized and checked over by a mechanic at the end of each season and after 9 years I can honestly stand before you and say they have had absolutely nothing wrong with them since the day they were made in 2006. Find a nice motor that has been stored indoors and looked after and you will have years of fun. Best of luck on your search and be patient, it took me almost 18 months to finally find something I was willing to spend the money on.
  9. I always like to go perch color on the deep divers, but really depends where abouts your going to use it most. The beauty of fishing when you think about it, a perch may be best over some weeds but then a shad or shiner would look better diving into a pebble or stone bottom. Its how the lure companies get us to keep coming back for more!
  10. Keep your eye on some ebay auctions, you can usually get a little bit of a deal...problem is every other fishermen wants that same deal. I picked up 3lucky craft jerkbaits and a lucky craft crankbait in 2 auctions for 20 bucks the other day($8 & $12) with shipping(5$) = 25 bucks for 3 pointers and a crankbait that woulda cost me 13.99-17.99 x 4. I was happy with it, all depends what your willing to spend though....
  11. ^ ahhh the famous, ill only buy what I lose mentality... Never seems to pan out does it! I haven't bit the bullet yet on the shadow rap, but judging by the remarks its getting(not to mention the size of the display gander mountain has) im sure ill have one by the time bass opener arrives.
  12. Lucky craft and megabass are two ive been stalking up on this winter(long long winter it seems). After numerous articles and hours of research and chatter with tons of guys these two seem to be the favourites and the consensus amongst most. Not saying others wont work but I had the same question over the past 2 seasons and this was what I learned. Keep an eye out in the flea market forum and on ebay, you can get some pretty good deals if you look hard enough!
  13. x2 on rod and reel....you can walk any lure with the right set-up, just takes a little practice and a whole lotta patience!
  14. Does cabelas have the LT bluegill crank in store for 5.99? or is that just an internet thing? I seen its backordered online, so wondering if they have it in store.
  15. A lot of the swim baits "look" amazing in the water but very rarely do they bring in big numbers. It's one of those baits where you go jeez if I were a fish I'd eat that, but unfortunately it never works that way. I like to use swimbbaits as almost a backup bait so to say, when nothing else is working I'll throw one on to see it it intices anything into a follow.. Just my 2 cents of course..
  16. I think the biggest difference is the sensitivity, now how much of it is played out by big brand companies vs real feeling....who knows.... I think your biggest answer should be what your travelling with and the space you have....I had a car before when I was younger and its a heck of a lot easier to throw a two piece in the trunk then drop down a back seat and try to fit the one piece... Now that I got the truck and a boat the rods stay in the boat all summer so its no longer a issue to have to have 1 or 2 piece rods.....All in the situation and preference. In my eyes if it affected the rod that much there wouldn't be 2-300+ dollar 2 piece rods....
  17. I would get those LMB jumping out of the water on a hoola popper or heddon crawler. Anchor out about 75 feet from shore and cast towards the shore and walk it back out just waiting for the splash! A few similar lakes up here in Canada, don't drop a boat in but casting along the shorelines with a crazy crawler always seems to get the LMB going.
  18. Shimano Crucial 7'0 with a shakey head, Helios with a worm or a light craw, and gotta take something for a spinnerbait probably a st Croix med action 7+ footer. But come on who only takes 3 rods?!?!?
  19. Ive had just about enough "cold fronts" time to start on some "warm front" topics! Very nice bass though! Starting to get the itch.
