  1. Ya figured it was something along those lines, just odd to see three wires going nowhere. Guess I'll put the black cover on and pretend I didn't see it! Thanks for the response.
  2. I’ve found the culprit. Three wires coming off of the ignition/key system go to nowhere so this little black piece keeps them covered... i guess my next question is why is there three wires leading to no where off of the ignition, you can see in this diagram what I’m referring to... thanks!
  3. Sending a quick pic to this group was easier then having to drive over and talk to the shop... but it may come down to that if I can't find an answer.
  4. Any idea what this is? I just got my boat winterized, I’ve owned it for ten years and have never seen this piece before. It was sitting on the bottom of the boat near the steering wheel. It’s about 3inches by 2 inches wide with two stubs and one hollow tube... has the word “YAMAHA” on the back. It appears to be a cover for something but I can’t find from where... almost looks like a trailer adapter, which I know it’s not... at a loss...
  5. Alright good to know. That's what I was hoping to hear!
  6. G Loomis is an sjr, then I have a shimano crucial casting and spinning. Also use a st croix avid, a lews custom lite speed stick and a okuma Helios combo.
  7. I'm currently fishing st croix, g loomis and shimano... I'm thinking 4 kistlers could possibly replace all. For 199-219 they can't be too bad of rods! I haven't heard any negative.
  8. Any opinions on the kistler mag 2s? I see they have a pretty awesome sale of buy 4 get 50%off. Looking for any opinions positive or negative on the mags? Thanks!
  9. Just stopped at cabelas and got the storm arashi cranks for 1.99$. Reg 8.99 on sale for 2.99 and rang out at 1.99 each. Quite happy with the find!
  10. Oh sweet. Thanks a lot!!
  11. Picked up a ton of tackle off a guy who literally just bought stuff for fun found these two lures in with the pack and can't seem to find anyone who can identify? Any ideas? They seem too well done to be home made
  12. How has the new base map update for the helix treated you? I went to download yesterday and realized it was a 7.9GB update and I only had a 4gb sd card...in the process of finding a 16gb. I am very interested to see how many "new contours" this will unlock. Humminbird is stating the download includes contours of over 10,000 lakes. You can go online and check out all of the lakes included. Seems like a pretty big step for Humminbird to offer this for free and considering its 7.9GB its quite the update, will this effect the sales of map cards? Once I get the SD card I will post some before and after pictures of a lake around me that I seen will be on the update. sorry for the delay here are some before and after pictures of Canadian side lake st Clair (Mitchell's Bay Area) was just a blue blob before the update; after the update you can see some added bouys, depths, etc. Not bad for a free update! Currently trying to upload pics...
  13. If you register your unit on the hummingbird website under "my hummingbird" link on the right it'll tell you the last update date. This should give you a good idea....Also once you pop your SD card in the unit it'll tell you if its a new update or not. (as im sure you've heard before make sure you restore defaults before updating).
  14. I just picked up the helix 9 si. The picture is incredible and I have been overly impressed with the auto chart feature which basically creates my own underwater maps wherever I want. It's amazing the difference in colour with these helix's considering I got it for 859$ which is relatively cheap compared to some of the newer models. YouTube any model your looking at and there will be a comparison and ups and downs to pretty much everything out there. Helped me sort through the brands.
  15. Tried adding more washers, doesn't make a difference. After reading a few more articles it seems this is a norm and is part of some sort of safety set up to just pop it up rather then break the unit if anything is struck. Doesn't seem right to me to leave something with play but hey I'm sure they've done it for a reason.
  16. I installed the hdsi transducer for a helix 9 si unit and noticed the pin that goes through the transducer connecting it to the bracket doesn't tighten 100%. The screw is as tight as it can be but it leaves some play....Should I add another washer or two to get a 100% tight unmovable unit or does it have a little give on purpose? Can't seem to find anywhere that it says it should have a little play so figure I'd ask and hope someone has experience with the hdsi transducer. The way it sits the unit can move about a 1/2 inch up and down. Thanks!
  17. oh ya, they were extremely sticky. There was no way I was getting them off once they went on so it was a very precise application. They were nice and thick too and I've already dropped a few walleye on them and they clean up easily. I can't imagine them coming off or faulting for a long time I'll try to get a better picture of one up close You can kind of see the rough texture in this picture.
  18. Turned out really good, they are very durable and have a non slip texture on them. I know it's not a bass boat haha but gives it a personal touch.
  19. One thing I always did before I had a boat was every time I went out I put what I used in a separate container... after 5-6 times out it's amazing how little you actually use. This is a quick easy way to identify what you need and what you really don't.
  20. I miss the hunt for a new rig! Took me about 2 years until I found exactly what I wanted when I was looking a few years back. It seems we had similar debates; new rig with decent electronics or a little bit older boat with updated technology. At the end of the day I took the newer boat and updated stuff in time. There's new technology weekly it seems... better to have the newer/bigger/better boat and then upgrade the goods as you go imo. A 7k boat with 3k electronics is still a 7k boat. Electronics are awesome to have but at the end of the day the boat and motor are your main concerns.( jeez I'm starting to sound like my grandfather, he never could figure out why I even needed a "computer" on a boat) ?
  21. Iguana had limitations on what they could print for "non pro staff". Which I thought was odd but to each's own I guess. Ended up using zdecals. Good price, accommodated everything I asked. Now I wait for the mailman.
  22. I'm looking to get some new carpet decals made for my boat, wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good place to use. Thanks!
  23. Thanks Sully, I wrote your info down. Ill PM you closer to the date.
  24. Awesome! I'll pm you closer to the date to see if the shoe fits! Thanks!
