  1. Im in favour of a c&r period from ice out untill june 1st i think that would be a good compromise.
  2. Im a big bait guy big jigs big trailers big worms and creature baits and i love the kvd 8.0 square bill. It works for me and i would rather fish all day and catch one 5+lb bass than 50 rats.
  3. I do it all the time but i use a 4ot ewg and hook them like a texas rig, keeps small fish from pulling the senko off and keeps it weedless.
  4. I didn't like mine at all had problems with big fish the gears grind when fighting fish. Then the reel seat broke made of cheap plastic is sent it back for the warranty and never geard from kast king after that. I'll stick with paying more and getting quality. Just experience with KK.
  5. July i would start the morning fishing a top water on the shady side of the lake as long as blue gill are spawning. Later in the day i would fish docks with a jig or wacky senko. If docks are no good i would look for deep weeds and or rocks and work them with a jig or crankbait on cloudy days i would also fish a spinner bait. You can also try 8 to 10" worms texas rigged or fish a drop **** on weed edges rocks and weedy points. As the sun gets low i would look for surface activity and fish a topwater again.
  6. Yea i just let my buddy fillet them he's a master at it. Nothing worse than a lake with too many 20" pike they destroy tackle worse then biggins.
  7. As long as people follow the rules i have no problem with people eating bass if they wish. Many times this can be helpful to fisheries. People who love to eat 20" pike are my heroes.
  8. I would just pick the rod you feel is the most versatile and spool up with mono or braid and just fish everything on that. Just make a plan that fits your budget and pick up more reels when you can look for deals.
  9. You might want to get a chatter bait without the brush guard if you are not fishing timber may help you hook up ratios.
  10. Why do i use 50 to 65lb braid for frogging? Well i started with 50lb power pro and have had great luck with it no problems so why do i use 65lb now? Why not i dont need my frog to dive down deep im not worried about bass seeing it. It's stronger a little thicker and helps keep my bait on top. Why am i not worried about breaking my rod? Because i don't lift gallons of water with my rod and i don't load up my rod to horse 6lb bass out of pads.
  11. I think eagle claw hooks are just as good as any others on the market, some people disagree but i wouldn't hesitate to buy them there what i use.
  12. I wouldnt use trailer hooks on chatter baits myself. What rod and line are you useing for chatter baits? That may be the problem. Also z-man make really durable trailers for chatter baits also the sk menace grub is a great trailer. I find the chigger craw is pretty average as far as claw durability but i only use them ad jig trailers.
  13. Im in the process of downsizing my plastics selection. I think im going with a rodent type bait a brush hog type bait a grub probably the menace i just love it and 2 types of craws, rage craws and chigger craws i think that should get the job done. I get overwhelmed by all the options and get distracted.
  14. Green pumpkin jig with a rage craw or chigger craw
  15. If a bass thinks it can eat something it will try. There's no shad or blueback herring in Minnesota but you sure can get bit on those color patterns.
  16. Ive had great success using whatever everyone else isn't. For example on one of my favorite lakes and in minnesota in general people love to throw chartreuse spinner baits and bladed jigs. I started throwing green pumpkin skirted spinners and bladed jigs and its like the bass never seem them. Sometimes you match the hatch sometimes something diffrent make all the difference.
  17. Imo i wouldn't worry about that. I use marker on my line and on baits that i feel have too much chartreuse and have good results
  18. 32psi should be fine for you. I pull a 16" tracker and my trailer tires only need 35psi max
  19. I use the heaviest jig i can get away with my go to is 3/4oz
  20. The Sk rage swimmer or the BPS speed shad are good options even the big bite baits cane thumper.
  21. Snap-on tools are awesome but i can fix my stuff just fine with my craftsman tools. Same with fishing gear i just think it's important to show people that you can be successful fishing with whatever one can afford.
  22. Hit me up if you want my login for my outdoor tv there some good mlf to catch up on
  23. Its a 1 2 punch for me get some on a tube and follow up with a jig a big jig. Didnt Keith Combs win on Mille Lacs with a jig and full size craw at the aow tourney.
  24. 12lb sniper is my go to cranking line.
  25. Value is really important to me when it comes to fishing gear. I tend to spend 100-130 on rods and 170 bucks max on reels. I feel like that is a sweet spot for me as far as quality and price. If you learn how to service your own reels you can make them last forever.
