I just booked a trip to South Dakota at a state park in late Apirl. I would encourage anyone interested in doing some pre-spawn bass fishing to check out SD for some excellent bass fishing opportunities.

@Deephaven Don't force the deep structure bite sometimes Bass wont get on deep structure all season and sometimes they just show up early and stay all season. For me i look for schools of bait suspended off weed edges, when you start seeing this all over the lake than its a pretty good sign bass will be on the structure and feeding on the deep weed edges.

Fishing has been great. Why waste the best Fishing of the year just because it's. A cooler full of ice and plenty of water and the heat is no problem.

I definitely like to wait a second before I set the hook. I also like to take a pliers and bend the hooks away from the body of the frog just a mm or 2.

He actually did, he has 3 12v lithium batteries and a 36v backup lithium battery. Basically 5 grand worth of batteries at least.

I'll be targeting largemouth, I haven't tried them yet but I think they should work.

I'll be out this week and until the ice in on the lake so I'll report. I'll be throwing a blade bait, hair jig and a football jig th 30' of water from now on mabe a under spin as well.

I'm sorry, I couldn't disagree with you more Boyd only affiliation with Bass it that he fished in their tournaments. He paid to fish in those tournaments. He owed them nothing. All Boyd did was created a tournament trail that was more attractive to anglers that bass. Let's be honest there were many anglers that weren't happy with Bass, if not Boyd 5han someone else would have done it. Don't get me wrong I love Bass and think they will be just fine if they make the right decisions moving forward. In my mind Boyd did what he felt like he had to do and see nothing wrong with it.

Now you feel the pain of us northern anglers. Pike love jackhammers, pipers, swimbaits, well really everything.

I get as surgical as I can when fishing for largemouth late in the year. Number one thing is to spend the time driving around the weed edge looking for any remaining green weeds - before you start to fish. There will be very few green weeds left but that is where any remaining feeding fish will be. I then throw jigs... I start with big ones and move a little lighter/smaller if I need to. Love throwing a 3/4 oz Mop Jig with a big floppy Megadaddy trailer. Worked phenomenally last Fall. Next size down would be a 1/2 or 3/4 oz AT Grassmaster jig with Chigger Craw. Or if I need to, move down to a 3/8 - 1/2 oz Grassmaster with a compact, do-nothing Berkley Creature Hawg This is pretty much my strategy as well, and for some reason the Berkeley chigger craw seem to really work well. I will also choose lakes with with laydows or hard bottom areas and fish those.

I definitely think technology is getting to the point where there will need to be some rules set. I actually feel like we are there as far as SI, live scope, 360 ect. I think its important to have some mystery left In fishing.

I was out yesterday, I found bass in millfoil. Basically I found areas of healthy milfoil that were spread out in clumps in 3' to 7' of water with a jig. I dont think there is a prevailing pattern right now. I think its gust spots and conditions. If the sun is out docks have been very productive, pads have also been very productive as long as they have at least 3' of water underneath. In overcast conditions I've just been breaking down grass flats and edges. The kind of grass hasn't really mattered it just has to be healthy, not a solid wall and orientated near the main lake. I've just been searching with a reaction bait than working the area slowly with a jig or t-rig. So basically when the sun is up I fish docks or mats/pads and when its overcast I fish grass. I have a question for everybody on here. Lately when fishing lakes with a thermalcline I've been marking schools of bait and above the thermalcline and bigger fish beneath the bait using the thermalcline like it's the bottom of the lake or an edge. The most interesting spots have been where the lake bottom drops abruptly and meets the tcline. Have anyone noticed this of fished theses spots?

This has been the deal for me as well, cabbage has been the best grass lately. Basically find areas with the spinnerbait and slow down and work them over with a jig.
