  1. Has anyone else noticed there seems to be a trend of pros moving away from ranger, triton, and other bass pro/white river marine boats? Swindle, roumbanis, scott martin, and several more ive noticed are switching to other brand boats for 2021. Btw. Can a mod fix my typo on the title from ttending to trending?
  2. If the motor checks good, go for it. That looks like an older evinrude intruder series motor. We have had one since dad bought it new in 93, and its been a good motor overall. Its the later ones witb the ficht that rudes began having problems.
  3. Look at north Alabama, around the huntsville area. Booming area of state economy and job wise, and surrounded by some of the best fishing in the country. You can fish big water like guntersville, or smaller rivers too like the flint or elk. Plus local county public lakes, watersheds, or pay lakes.
  4. I recommend the siebert tungsten jigs as well. Those or the dredge series are the only jigs i use. Perfect jig to me would have the hook from the dredge with a tungsten hesd.
  5. Dobyns champion 702 with a pflueger supreme 25. 15# pp slick 8, no leader. I like a longer rod than 6' unless im wading a creek panfishing. Im sure there are some who have found a baitcasting combo to work, but its out of my budget. I have less that $175 in my combo, found some deals on the flea market here.
  6. One thing not to overlook is the reel as well. I can cast smaller baits on my tatula sv or my curado 70, than i can my tatula ct. Also since super cleaning my reel bearings it takes noticeably less effort to cast on all my rods compared to before.
  7. I use 12# on my main jerkbait rod, but i dont notice a real difference when i go to my second/back up rod i use that has 15# on it.
  8. I use hi vis yellow on all my spinning rods and currently (may change to straight floro)on my flipping rod. No leaders anymore except in ultra gin clear water. I do usually color the last 3' or so with a sharpie, but not always. I fish pretty dirty coosa river water usually so it works fine for me. I love the yellow for line watching on a senko or ned rig.
  9. Thats 3 rods for me too, but i understand its not always doable for everyone. I like a short(6'4), fast rod on jerkbaits, a 7' med-mod for cranks, and a 7'3 glass composite for chatterbaits. Some good suggestions here already on rods, but it will be a compromise somewhere on which techniques any rod will work better than another either way. My advice is to save up and pair it with a really good reel, like a sv spool daiwa or curado 70, something that can also help handle the big difference in the weights of the lures listed you plan to throw.
  10. I asked about them at the classic and was told they are all gone.
  11. Is there an actual initial weigh in at the ramp for events, like the classic was this year and other years, where the weigh in is a long way off from lake? I would be ticked if i had 5 good fish live and kicking when i got to the ramp, and then after driving 1.5hr from guntersville to birmingham, and then sitting in the parking lot another hour or better and unable to recycle water in the livewell with fresh for a fish to die and incur a penalty for it. As good as the livewell systems are in the new boats i can see it potentially happen
  12. Thanks for the answers so far. Why do some suggest the mbr over the jwr? Ive been mainly looking at the jwr. I understand the mbr is a slower more general purpose taper, where im looking more for maximum sensitivity.
  13. Im looking at buying a g-loomis glx for throwing 3/8 jigs pretty much exclusively. Will be paired with a tatula sv and 20# floro. It will be a do all, throw anywhere jig, brush, laydowns, grass, docks, etc.. I am debating between the 854 and 855. Ive ruled out the 894 and 895 since i know from experience i do not skip well with anything 7'3" or longer. It would be my first loomis, so im not sure about the power and ratings. My current rod is a 7'm-f avid, and i really like it very well, but i want to take the next step up in sensitivity.
  14. The siebert dredge brush jig my go to. I always have one in 3/8oz rigged and with me no matter the season or lake.
  15. Ive noticed TW is rapidly closing in on being as high/over priced as BPS. I find myself looking there less and less because of this.
