  1. Pretty sure you can still get the slx combo from american legacy for 140.
  2. I throw mine on 30 lb. Straight braid.
  3. Got out 8:30 to 1:30 today figuring my hopes for a topwater fest gone with an air temp of 39 at launch. While i did manage 2 on a buzzbait with 1 good one at 3-13 it was a spinnerbait that did the most work bringing 11 to the boat including the days best at 4-15.
  4. For me it's the big bite baits top toad. What I like about it is it's got a flat wider body than most and stiffer plastic that makes it skip.really well. Also that it has outward facing feet that cut a wider swath than others. For colors I like watermelon/pearl and chartreuse junebug swirl. 4 or5/0 grip pin hook on 30-40 lb. Braid.
  5. Ive had this happen with mustad grip in hooks even with 30 lb. Braid. I 'll either put a drop of superglue in the gap or just tie a 'dummy knot' and slide that against the gap. Both seem to work ok to solve the problem.
  6. The lever on the rear is referred to as the fighting drag ( have it on my rear drag symetres) as it allows you to set the drag as you like it [say 10 lbs.] And and then adjust on the fly when fighting a fish and being able to maintain the setting by returning the lever to center.
  7. Thanks and yea great game. Was nice to see that draft pick we wasted on Hamilton finally pay some dividends.?
  8. @lonnie gWhile I'd rather be 'dialed in' on 1 or 2 lures it's nice to be able to make good choices based on what's in front of you. Was back at it again on thurs. Got 16- 2 on the tx. Rig craw 2 on a jig 3 on a bladed jig 2 on a toad 6 on a buzzbait and 1 on a bps double plopper with a 2-12 toad fish the best. No real pigs but if the shallow topwater assault is gonna be on I'll be a happy camper the next few weeks
  9. Got out 8:30 to 2:00 today and managed to put together a decent junk fishing day. Got 15 total. 1 on a tx.rig craw,2 on spinnerbait, 2 on a shallow crank, 2 on frog and 8 on a jig with the best of the day this 4-3 jig fish.
  10. Got out from 8:30 til.2 today. Got 10 -1 on a chatterbait and 9 on a jig with the best two weighing 3-2 And this one at 4-13
  11. I'm right there with you as I do it with a jig or t-rig as well except when punching as I don't like my hand ahead of the reel for hooksets on the vertical presentations . As for comfort I find it more so as I have the butt of the rod tucked against my leg/ hip.
  12. Jig,spinnerbait,chatterbait
  13. I prefer the loops but I also like left Twix so what do I know?
  14. I was once all spinning but have steadily made the transformation to mostly casting. I still have two spinning rods but only use them to throw small topwaters for river smallies in Maine.
  15. I just leave 'em on unless I'm done for the year.
  16. Outlet b&t has black/blue flake Christie craws .98 cents a pack today.
  17. Got out today for about 3.5 hrs. In some brutal wind. Managed 1 on a bladed jig and 3 on a jig with this one weighing in at 3-13. All were up shallow on little sticks and branches.
  18. well, if you really dont need anything,my birthday is only about 2 months away so I'd be more than happy to p.m. you my wishlist ?
  19. Worked 6-2 today went right home and babysat my 3yr. Old granddaughter for a few hours then ran out for few casts. On about my 6th got my "good pappi reward" a nice 4-4 on a jerkbait.
  20. I had the xt 7-3 hf it was definitely a pool cue which is.why I loved it for a frog rod. ( broke it last year) not sure what you have for a truck but mine went in my colorado front to back crossways no.prob. As for frog weight i threw snagproof phat frogs which weigh .67oz. A mile easily on that rod. Not sure if these are abnormally heavy for you. Hope this helps.
  21. 1. Your own tent. This IS A MUST. 2.warm clothes. You don't realize how cold it can get at night. 3. A good plan for securing your food supply. Cant tell. You how many times my buddies and I were sitting by a fire at night and 20ft. Away we would here raccoons scratching at our coolers trying to open them. 4. Folding camp saw or small hatchet. 5.firstaid kit. 6. This should be no.1, file a 'flight plan' so someome knows where your going and when.your expected back. 7. R.T.E food. Spam/ deviled ham etc. Nothing worse than being rained into your rent and hungry. 8. Pack as light as possible. 9. Don't forget the TP.
  22. I'm all about catch and release but i think you should definitely consider 'mounting' that one.
  23. Stopped after work today to take a few casts. Managed to get one on a little jerkbait. Not a monster but the first of the year just felt good.
