  1. This guy. Lived in the trenches no finesse in his game.
  2. I'll preface my thoughts by saying that imo the pre-abt snagproof phat frogs were the best frog I ever used. But when they were discontinued I went looking for a replacement. I've settled on the scumfrog trophy series which has served me well the last few years,.however I've not caught a 5+lb. Fish on one yet. And I will give the new abt phat frog a shot soon.
  3. Was gonna put myself at '0' but then I remembered my endura max 55 has some sort of digital thingy that saves power so I guess I'm a '1'. As for why I just don't care to have or see the need for tech where I fish.
  4. Heavy cover, yes I do.
  5. No bass, yes skunk. I'm not out there for pickeral and panfish.
  6. Got out today 7-12. Bit of a rough start as early on I was sitting with 3 fish boated and 5 hooked and lost. Managed to fight back a little and ended the day with 9 caught 7 lost. Fortunately none lost were bigs. Did land 2 good ones that weighed 4-7and 3-8 both on a buzzbait.
  7. Most bass I catch on jerkbaits the rod just loads up. When I get a big "thunk" strike it's almost always a perch or crappie
  8. Got out this morning around 7-11:30. Boated 13 bass,1 on a spinnerbait, 2 on a frog and 10 on a buzzbait with one decent one that went 3-8 on the buzzbait.
  9. Got out today about 7-12 caught 11 bass 1 on a frog the rest on a buzzbait with a couple of good ones weighing 3-6 and 3-8 both on the buzzbait.
  10. 10 fish for 60+ lbs. =2- 30+ bags to me. Congrats on. Great trip!!
  11. Fished a pretty long day today logging about 9.5 hours between two different bodies of water. Caught a total of 32 bass, 15 on a buzzbait, 10 on Texas rig yo mamma and 7 on a spinnerbait with the best of the day a 4-14 and 3-10 both on the buzzbait.
  12. For the colder mornings oatmeal; warmer weather frosted mini wheats. If I want or need to be out the door quick it's a couple poptarts for the drive and a couple more when I launch. I usually have some poptarts in my tackle bag but almost never eat while fishing.
  13. 200 b5-- g loomis 'spinnerbait special'
  14. I've done it with bismuth based jigs I bought not realizing they had no guards. Lead is plenty soft so should be able to as well. Can't speak to tungsten,it's pretty hard but I'd imagine it's possible.
  15. Got about an hour of fishing in from the bank.before work today, caught 2 both on a buzzbait with this one weighing 3-12
  16. "The wind last night blew my canoe across my yard" @ol'crickety wow! Hope there wasn't any damage. I too Can get knocked around by wind, fortunately fo me most my waters have bends and dogleg turns so i can usually find a corner to hide.
  17. Me too @ol'crickety. got another stretch of work ahead starting tomorrow so im glad to have gotten this girl.
  18. Well it's been a bummer of a spring so far with work and life taking to much of my time. Can't believe we're heading into May and today was only my 3rd outing this month, all those in the last 5 days. With the last 2 trips being so-so and seeing ice in the birdbath when I left this morning I wasn't high with hope. But l managed to catch 6 , 1 on a spinnerbait and 5 on a buzzbait( go figure) with the 1st of those 5 the best of the season so far weighing 5-4.
  19. If the guy in the back of the boat is dumb enough to beat the already beaten banks with the same bait he should get beat 3-1. What he should do is let the guy upfront beat the banks for bucks while he breaks ranks and casts beyond the outside break for a pre-spawn behemoth. Or something like that🙂
  20. What works for me , works for me; doesn't mean it'll ever work for you.
  21. My house in maine is in the path of totality. I thought about burning a few Vaca days to go up but realized I didn't care enough. However if this had been in July or August when I normally take my trips north I probably would have planned my trip to be up there for it.
  22. Never used an 8 biggest i use are 7's which I throw on 1oz. down to 1/2oz. Without issue so i don't think 3/4 would be a problem with the 8's. Just gotta have the rod to do it. I burn 1oz. Baits with a single sz.7 on a 7-5 h/f with an 8:3 reel up in maine for smallies and they run fine no rolling.
  23. Lm. Sm. Spinnerbait. Spinnerbait Buzzbait. Buzzbait Frog. Popper Double wide beaver. Torpedo Jerkbait. Jerkbait
  24. If i remember correctly,In the old days they called this "half-hitching" which enabled the spook to be walked up to and around standing timber and dock posts etc.
