  1. Just because you see them, does not mean they will eat. Livescope is a crappie fisherman's dream.
  2. Easily caught isn't always the case. If they are seen, they can be specifically targeted. I believe that is what you're getting at. It's available to everyone, but not everyone uses it. John Cox is a good example. He doesn't even have a spot lock trolling motor.
  3. Lake Biwa is a large, clear lake that gets more pressure than most lakes in the states. Nobody said a livescope-caught record would be controversial, just that it could make pinpointing the fish a little easier. Elaborate please?
  4. Honestly, you can find fish doing 50 different things in October. Some will still be deep, some will be on docks, some will be out on points and some will be way up the creeks. You really have to decide how you fish best and find water that suits that. There will be catchable fish available where and how you want to fish. October in the Ozarks is one of my favorite months. Personally, I'd find a skinny creek and go toss a jig and spinnerbait. I have my preferred spots on that lake, but there's 40 miles between them. Let me also say, I fish from a kayak and favor small water. I will avoid the main lake all day.
  5. Until you have thrown a Fluke on casting gear, you don't understand what you can really do with it. A weightless fluke on a heavy wire hook weighs over 3/8oz and casts easily on either. I've done both and, while I normally use spinning tackle, 20 braid to 12 fluorocarbon, but have thrown it into heavy cover on 30 braid to 15 fluorocarbon on a MHXF casting rod and have seen no loss in catches or action. The swivel would negate line twist and if you used a tiny barrel swivel, you wouldn't see a noticeable increase in drag or weight.
  6. For your sake, I hope you get her.
  7. I would be interested in the Rapalas if you were wanting to sell.
  8. And people also used to do homework by candlelight, but alas, we are not in the 1930s anymore and we have access to these things. The question is, watching folks like Josh Jones become FFS experts and pull giants out of everywhere, does it make it more likely that they can and will be caught?
  9. What say you guys, will livescope make spotting and potentially catching the next record bass, either LMB or SMB, easier? How and why? I do not have livescope and don't see much need for it where I fish, but toys are always nice.
  10. I throw the Uv Speed Craw on either a 1/8oz stand up head or a 2/0 Gamakatsu G Finesse Worm hook. They're fantastic baits. I love them on the jighead for river smallies.
  11. I have a President XT 35 that I bought earlier this year that on my last trip began to bind when reeling. I don't know if I got it wet or what have you. It's in fantastic shape and I have fished it a dozen times, primarily throwing a fluke or shaky head. Does anyone have any idea? I've sent two emails to Pflueger about it and cannot get a response.
  12. Depending where you're located, I got mine from Everhart's in Clinton, MO. They stock Ark Tharp, Essence and Invoker Pro. You could buy it directly from Ark through their website too.
  13. I have this rod also and absolutely love it. It's my general purpose spinning rod. I've thrown Super Flukes, wacky 4" Senkos, weightless Senkos, 1/8oz shaky heads and have caught fish to 3lbs on it so far. I have a President XT 35 and 20# braid to a 12lb leader on it. It's money well spent.
  14. To me, it makes for boring TV. At least everyone isn't staring into their traffic cones in his event. I'd rather see them have an event somewhere else or later in the year when a majority of the fish aren't spawning.
  15. I have some rigged with 3.5" paddle tails. I have yet to throw them, but that may change this weekend.
  16. Hmm, I would think the opposite. A beginning angler will not know what they're feeling with a jig or big worm, but when a bass blows up on a Plopper or popper, they will definitely know it. Heck, one of the easiest, most successful baits to throw, which coincidentally, is easy for a new angler, is a spinnerbait. Your football jig to big worm advice is more suited for an angler who knows what they're feeling or doing.
  17. Honestly, I can use the same rod for jerkbaits, 1.0 and 1.5 (6'10" M MF), but for the 2.5, I use my spinnerbait/chatterbait rod which is a 7' MHMF with 15lb fluoro.
  18. They only need a couple handfuls, as long as they have 194 and 297...maybe I have the 4 and 7 flipped...
  19. Those grubs are legit. My wife loves them when she goes fishing with me. Personally, I try to use hardbaits on my local waters, but have and use grubs on an Owner Bullet Ultrahead when I need to.
  20. My rod for that exact usage is an Ark Lancer Pro 6'10" Medium power, regular action. I routinely use Splash Its, Duo Kabuki 50, KVD 1.0, Pop X and clear up to a Duo Pencil 100 or Giant Dog X. It is really my favorite rod I have.
  21. Depending what and where I am using, my rod with either be a 7' MXF spinning rod 20# braid to 12# fluoro leader, 7'3" Mag MH casting rod 17# fluoro or 6'10" MMF casting rod, 12# mono. I often throw 3.5" paddletails on a 1/8oz ball head for smallies in rivers and that's normally on the 6'10" casting rod, which is my favorite for that technique.
  22. I don't want to have to add weight to get it to sink is why the Z-Man stuff wasn't mentioned.
  23. I will have to try some in the next few weeks.
  24. I caught a deal on Contra from Strike King. It's what most of my fluoro and my one mono reel are spooled with. So far, so good.
