  1. Thanks JJ. I did post there as well. I was hoping I could get info from both. I need all the help I can get. A lot guys I trust here as well. I appreciate the reply.
  2. What difference is there between stainless and titanium, alconite and sic etc? I have heard conflicting statements and thought I better ask people in the know. I am building on some NFC x ray blanks and want to make an informed decision on these builds. Does it make a big difference? Weight? Durability? Feel? Thanks for your knowledge. I am new to this building fun! Fishin Dad
  3. DVT or ghotti from Bass Resource here would be great connections. You might want to start there and communicate with them. I think you would find it amazing how with someone guiding you, you can get a rod to exactly fit the way you fish, exactly how you want it made. That rod will fit YOU, not trying to find a rod that might work close to what you want. Good luck in whatever you decide on. With your budget, it will be awesome either way!
  4. With that budget, a GLX or NRX with a Daiwa Zillion SV. That would be sweet. I would actually consider a custom build for the rod to get a high quality blank built exactly how you like.
  5. I actually think it is awesome that you have the means to do this. Good for you. That is a classic lure retriever. One of a kind. I don't get too shook up over what other people do. I think it is pretty funny.
  6. I definitely have/do the same old same old and always have most of them on the deck. I do believe, however, that with all the pressure with COVID on these lakes, I want/ need to try new and different things to keep em biting.
  7. ^^^^^Frydog hit it right on the head. No reason to fight it when there are reels available to make it better. Daiwa SV’s are awesome (I can’t afford the Steez like Frydog, but like my Tatula and Zillion SV’s a lot). I also want to grab the new Lews reel made for skipping. I have always had great luck with my Lews reels as well. Technique is very important no matter what reel you use to get the most out of skipping casts. I found that a more wrist driven roll cast with little arm or body movement works best. Good luck!!
  8. For those of you that have these pants, do they run long? I have freak long legs and they don’t offer them in a 36 inseam. I can sometimes make a 34 work. In some of the Columbia offerings, a 34 works. Let me know how the length ranks for you all. Thanks.
  9. These are really awesome fishing sun pants, but they aren’t cheap. They have a reinforced pliers pocket that is pretty solid.
  10. Hey Bluebasser, What do you like about these jerkbaits? What jerkbaits are these like? I would like to give these a try, but don’t want to grab them and have them sit in my didn’t work totes. They sound pretty solid. Thanks for any advice on these.
  11. I have used the Zman with a weighted wacky hook. It worked well. It does have decent action with the floating worm working against the weight pulling it down.
  12. I am going to be using the max scent generals this year a lot. I found them for $1.94 per bag and stocked up hard!! Glad to hear they are solid in Minnesota
  13. I have had them both ways, and I much prefer to hold them horizontally. It is certainly not critical, I just find it keeps my tackle in better condition (not as much chipped paint, hook points don’t get bounced around and damaged as much). It also doesn’t get things as knotted up or migrating to other places with smaller stuff. It is just my personal preference and I will not buy another bag that isn’t horizontal in storage. The way my bag stacks them having a visual of each box makes it very easy to locate what I want and take that box out and put it back easily. Good luck with your search.
  14. Finesse, I agree with the backpack as well. They make a backpack version from the same company as well as many others that allow that horizontal carry I like.
  15. Bassin Bruce, Welcome back to the bass world!! I really like a semi soft bag that allows me to store my 3700 boxes horizontal, not vertical. It keeps the tackle in those boxes from getting all tangled up. I have settled on the Wild River Tackle bag This allows me to store 5 3700 and 2 3600 boxes. It also has a large top section that opens up and lets me store of ton of small items, lines, etc. It has lasted me 5 years so far and it gets a lot of use. I like the fact that I can keep the 15 or so boxes I have loaded with tackle in my fishing room and just decide which boxes I want to load in the bag depending on the type of fishing, lake, conditions, or whose boat I am fishing out of. I do end up slinging it in my boat when I use mine, or I can bring it with me when fishing in a buddies boat. There are other variations from other manufacturers as well. This is a well made bag and has served me well. Enjoy the bass world again!! FIshin Dad
  16. That happened on my last order too. My card was still good. It actually happened twice until I called them and gave them a different card. I used the card that didn’t work 2 other times that day. It was weird.
  17. iabass8, I would absolutely love it if you would put out a you tube video about cleaning, polishing, and upgrading Daiwa reels! I have a lot of them and would love to see how this is done without having to screw up too many decent reels. All those small pieces scare me. thanks for all the info you share here!
  18. I have had that happen 3 times. 3 strikes and your out. I am done with them. A business that size should have a system that works, it doesn’t.
  19. Do you guys have any specific recommendations for jigs like name brand and style for that brand? I like what you are talking about, it just be easier to check out and look at some of those jigs. I am a visual learner type dude. Thanks
  20. Great discussion that reinforces I am going to try to keep my line on a little longer. I do use backing and re-tie a lot. These darn pike make sure of that. Sometimes with small overuns, a little line twist, skipping under docks and overhangs, the line gets a little beat up over a lot of its length and I just don’t trust it anymore. This usually happens with my main skipping and pitching rods. I have had to change out mid year on those at times. I might pick up one of those 660 yards spools of Sniper and give it a go this year. Still haven’t landed on what I feel is the best fluoro line. Tatsu would be great, but if I blew a spool on a crazy backlash, I would not be happy.
  21. I agree RW, but on a few rods I don’t use as often, I may try to save some money. Heck if J Franco can get 5 years, I might have to try for 1 1/2 or 2 years on a couple of those rods. Darn it sponsorship would be nice. I guess I would actually have to be good for that to happen. Lol
  22. J Franco, I am glad to hear you say that. I have been changing mine at least once per year and I thought that was pushing it. You hear pros changing every tournament and sometimes more. I understand they get a lot of stuff for free, but man that sure seemed like overkill. I do put a lot of time on the water and it seems like my Fluoro line gets beat up a little, but I might try to keep it on a little longer next season.
  23. I have used a 1/4 and even a 1/8 oz., even on a spinning rod and have caught 5 lb.+ bass on them. I usually only throw 1/2 oz., but have definitely had to downsize and slow down at times.
  24. I would probably have to say a senko. Always have it tied on and it seems to work on small and large fish, on active and lethargic fish, can fish it deep or shallow, faster or slower.
  25. Hey Rich, where did you pick these up?
